Job Title : Openshift Architect/ Engineer

Role Overview :

The OpenShift Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and governing enterprise‑grade container platforms using Red Hat OpenShift. The role focuses on building secure, scalable, and resilient Kubernetes‑based platforms, enabling application modernization, DevOps adoption, and hybrid / multi‑cloud strategies. The position works closely with application teams, DevOps engineers, security teams, and cloud stakeholders to ensure platform stability, performance, and compliance.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Define end‑to‑end OpenShift architecture across on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid environments, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and cloud strategies.
  • Design cluster topology, networking, storage, security, and high‑availability models suitable for large‑scale enterprise workloads.
  • Establish reference architectures, blueprints, and reusable patterns for OpenShift adoption.
  • Lead installation, configuration, and lifecycle management of OpenShift clusters (Day‑0 to Day‑2 operations).
  • Implement cluster upgrades, patching strategies, backup, and disaster recovery mechanisms.
  • Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and performance through proactive monitoring and capacity planning.
  • Guide application teams on containerization, microservices architecture, and cloud‑native design principles. Support migration of workloads from traditional platforms (VMware, legacy middleware) to OpenShift. Define standards for container images, registries, and application runtime governance.
  • Integrate OpenShift with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Git, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or equivalent platforms. Promote Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration automation using Ansible, Helm, Operators, and GitOps practices. Enable self‑service capabilities for development teams while maintaining platform governance.
  • Design and enforce security controls including RBAC, network policies, secrets management, and image security.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security, regulatory, and audit requirements.
  • Collaborate with security teams on vulnerability management and platform hardening.
  • Ac as a technical advisor to stakeholders, providing guidance on platform strategy, roadmap, and best practices.
  • Support client or internal discussions, technical reviews, and solution presentations.
  • Mentor platform engineers and contribute to capability development and knowledge assets.

Qualifications:

  • Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience 8+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud, or platform engineering roles.
  • 4+ years of hands‑on experience with Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes‑based platforms.
  • Proven experience in designing and operating enterprise‑scale container platforms.

Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in OpenShift architecture, Kubernetes primitives, and container ecosystems.
  • Hands‑on experience with Linux, networking, storage, and virtualization technologies.
  • Proficiency with automation and DevOps tools (Ansible, Helm, GitOps, CI/CD pipelines).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud deployments.
  • Solid understanding of security concepts including IAM, network security, and compliance controls.

Certifications (Preferred)

  • Red Hat Certified OpenShift Administrator (RHCOA) or OpenShift Specialist certifications.
  • Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD, or CKS).
  • Cloud platform certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP) are an advantage.

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Ability to work in client‑facing or cross‑functional environments.
  • Mentoring mindset with a focus on knowledge sharing and capability building.
