The Non-Playing Captain for the Emerging BPC segment is a dedicated team leadership role accountable for coaching, performance governance and capability to manage a team of 7- 8 Relationship Managers (Partners, Associate Partners) covering approximately 1,000 emerging wealth families.

The role does not carry an individual client book and is fully focused on team development. The incumbent is responsible for converting non-true BPC families into true BPC clients through structured engagement and disciplined RM-led portfolio deepening, while building the next generation of wealth talent and acting as a pipeline for HNI and UHNI banker roles within the Burgundy Private franchise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and manage a team of 7-8 Emerging BPC Relationship Managers, with full bandwidth dedicated to team development through weekly Monday planning sessions, daily check-ins for new RMs, structured one-to-one coaching conversations and joint client meetings.
  • Drive segment performance against the proposed FY27 EBPC scorecard, with primary focus on client up-migration to true BPC, revenue, net new money including deposits, client acquisition and net promoter score, while ensuring quality client engagement is maintained as a gating criterion.
  • Conduct structured hierarchy meetings with at least one touchpoint per family per year across the EBPC book, with deeper engagement for the top-decile up-migration cohort, including joint client meetings during graduation milestones, escalations and onboarding moments.
  • Govern team performance through weekly line-manager reviews, bi-weekly skip-level reviews with the Region Head, monthly adherence scorecards, and define interventions for non-adherence including escalation paths and structured performance improvement plans.
  • Build the Emerging BPC talent pipeline by leading onboarding for new and enabling them to succeed in current role and progress to roles of HNI and UHNI RMs
  • Orchestrate cross-functional engagement with Investment Counsellors, Insurance and Fee Specialists, Service RMs, Axis Securities and the Central BPC team to enable a seamless joint-meeting model drive adoption of digital servicing tools including the Wealth platform, and ensure adherence to risk, audit and regulatory norms.

Qualifications

  • MBA / Post Graduate degree in Finance, Management or other relevant discipline CA / CFA / CFP / CWM preferred (to be decided and updated)
  • AMFI & NISM certification mandatory IRDA certification preferred
Role Proficiencies:

For successful execution of the job, a candidate should possess the following:

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Financial markets and investment products including Mutual Funds, PMS, AIF, equity, fixed income, structured products and insurance
  • Knowledge of Banking & Investment products & services, digital-first servicing models, portfolio construction, asset allocation and goal-based planning frameworks, and regulatory frameworks across SEBI, RBI and IRDA including BPC compliance and suitability norms

Abilities

  • Ability to coach and develop early vintage RMs through a player-coach mindset, providing structured support over criticism, and demonstrated experience of running multi-RM teams in mass-affluent or emerging-wealth coverage models
  • Ability to run rigorous review and coaching cadences, intervene early on performance dips, prioritize and make decisions in a fast-paced environment with strong calendar discipline
  • Ability to work effectively across functions, orchestrating Investment Counsellors, Insurance and Fee Specialists, Service RMs, Acquisition team and Central BPC team, while contributing towards segment and franchise-level goals
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines simultaneously while balancing run-the-business and transform-the-business priorities
  • Ability to conceptualize and implement EBPC client engagement strategies with a view to drive client up-migration to true BPC, net new money mobilization and deepening of share of wallet
