Job Purpose / Objective

The Site Civil Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day supervision, execution, and quality control of all civil and structural works at the project site. The role ensures that construction activities are carried out in strict accordance with approved drawings, specifications, schedule, and applicable safety standards — delivering the project within time, cost, and quality parameters.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Site Execution & Supervision

  • Supervise and direct subcontractors, labor , and site teams for execution of civil/structural works including excavation, PCC, RCC, brickwork, plastering, waterproofing, and finishing.
  • Ensure construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications (BOQ), and design intent.
  • Monitor daily progress against the baseline programmed flag deviations to the Project Manager promptly.
  • Coordinate procurement, delivery, and staging of construction materials at site.
  • Review shop drawings and method statements before commencement of each activity.

Quality Control & Assura

  • Implement and enforce the project Quality Management Plan (QMP) for all civil wornness.
  • Carry out and record quality checks: concrete cube tests, rebar inspection, shuttering, cover blocks, curing.
  • Raise and close Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for defective materials or workman HTC. Ensure third-party inspection requirements (structural auditor, PMC, client) are met with advance notice.
  • Maintain all QA/QC registers and reports, inspection request (IR) checklists, and test reports.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Conduct daily toolbox talks and enforce HSE rules, PPE compliance, and safe working practices
  • Identify and mitigate site hazards; report near-misses and incidents in accordance with the project HSE plan.

Documentation & Report

  • Prepare daily site diaries covering manpower, plant, material receipts, weather, and work done.
  • Maintain MIS reports on progress, resources, and quality — submit to Project Manager week
  • Record and process RFIs (Requests for Information), site instructions, and change refuels
  • Prepare and verify measurements for contractor RA bills and variation orders.
  • Maintain as-built mark-ups of drawings during construction.

Planning & Coordination

  • Prepare weekly look-ahead schedules and 3-week rolling programmed in coordination with the Project Manager.
  • Coordinate with structural, MEP, and finishing teams to sequence works and avoid conflicts.
  • Attend daily/weekly site coordination meetings; prepare minutes of meetings (MOM).
  • Liaise with client PMC, structural consultant, and statutory inspection bodies as require

Material & Resource Management

  • Review and approve material submittals against project specifications before placing orders.
  • Conduct and record material inspections at gate (delivery checks) — steel, cement, aggregates, bricks, e

Qualifications & Experience Essential:

  • Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering (B.E. / B. Tech) from recognized university.
  • Minimum 3–7 years of relevant site experience in building construction (residential, commercial, or healthcare projects preferred).

Preferred / Desirable

  • Experience on hospital / healthcare construction or cleanroom-sensitive environments.
  • Exposure to IS code-compliant quality systems and third-party audits.
  • Post-graduate diploma or certification in Construction Project Management (CPM / PMP) — an advantage.
