Job Description

Accountabilities

To the Associate Director, R&D Business Operations, Budget Execution Capability Lead

To one or more functional leads as a trusted partner for delivering financial forecasts, particularly with a focus on alignment with strategy

  • On-time and quality delivery of the end-to-end process of budget execution for a key R&D organization (Annual Budget Planning, Quarterly Forecast Updates, Leadership Updates)
  • Collect and reflect the organization's prioritization of activities in budget projections rolling into financial forecasts
  • Support Financial Analytics/Business Case Generation within supported function(s)

Responsibilities

  • On-time and quality delivery of the end-to-end process of budget execution for the R&D organization (Annual Budget Planning, Quarterly Forecast Updates, Leadership Updates)
  • Resolution of escalated P2P issues
  • Support generation of data-driven strategy decks in support of LRS and annual budget submissions
  • Partner closely with R&D Finance planner to explain variances, emerging trends
  • Partner with functional leaders to understand drivers of change to baseline spend
  • Ensure alignment between financial forecasts and strategic objectives
  • Manage team to ensure delivery of consistent process and execution within supported function(s)
  • Contribute to feedback on corporate finance initiatives to provide business partner perspective
  • Develop and maintain key cross functional partnerships
  • Serve as advanced expert user of all financial planning and reporting systems
  • Support Business Case Generation capability for productivity initiatives within supported function(s)

Team Leadership:

  • Provide continual coaching of direct reports, train new hires

Guides direct reports on expectations for talent development

Qualifications

Theknowledgeandskillsnecessarytoperformthedutiesofthisposition aretypicallyacquired throughthefollowingcombinationofeducation,experienceandknowledge,ortheequivalent.

Minimum Requirements

Doctorate degree & 3 years of Biotech/Pharma-related Management experience in business operations or financial analytics

OR

Master's degree & 7 years of Biotech/Pharma-related Management experience in business operations or financial analytics

OR

Bachelor's degree & 9 years of Biotech/Pharma-related Management experience in business operations or financial analytics

AND

  • 3 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the financial management of resources
  • Strong project management experience
  • Budget management and financial analysis acumen
  • Fluency in English, both in written and oral communication

Preferred Requirements

  • Advanced degree in either business, finance or life sciences
  • 9 years work experience in life sciences field, including 6 years of biopharmaceutical R&D experience with a strong understanding of the drug development process
  • Demonstrated proficiency with data visualization tools (Tableau) and collaboration tools (Smartsheet, Miro, MS Teams)
  • Fluent with MS Office suite and advance capabilities in Excel
  • Experience with enterprise tools SAP, Ariba, Anaplan
  • Previous management experience of direct reports
