The Opportunity
Join Hitachi Energy India Development Centre (IDC) and contribute to the development of next-generation products within the GPQSS Edge Solutions portfolio, including EV Charging Infrastructure, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Data Centre Power Infrastructure, Hydrogen Energy Systems, and Power Conversion Systems. In this role, you will work in a global R&D environment, driving innovative mechanical designs, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and supporting the complete product development lifecycle from concept and design to validation.
How You Will Make An Impact
- Responsible for mechanical design and optimization (Concept to implementation).
- Lead electro-mechanical design and development of enclosures, power cabinets, racks, interfaces etc.
- Develop sheet metal structures, welded assemblies, bolted constructions, equipment racks, and enclosure architectures.
- Perform engineering calculations related to thermal performance, structural integrity, cable management, in-sulation coordination, and vibration requirements.
- Define FEM analysis requirements like thermal and structural analysis (CFD, Vibration, seismic etc.,)
- Test / Verify the final product as per international codes at reputed test labs for IP, IK, vibration, drop test, etc., and analyse the results.
- Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Design-to-Cost, DFMEA, and risk mitigation activities.
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
- Support prototype development, validation, testing, certification, and product qualification activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, controls, manufacturing, sourcing, testing, and service functions to ensure successful product delivery.
- Drive technical reviews, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous product improvements.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background
- Bachelor's University degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
- 8-10 years experience working with EV Chargers/BESS/Power Conversion products or similar
- Mechanical design fundamentals including proficiency in 3d modelling and PLM tools (NX/CREO/Solid works/Windchill/Teamcenter).
- Knowledge about various phases of product realization / product development.
- Knowledge on mechanical requirements and standards (IEEE, IEC, ASCE, UL etc.,)
- Sheetmetal designs & Manufacturing processes.
- Strong display of Engineering Change Management Process.
- Good understanding of sheet metal material selection, dimensioning & tolerance.
- Strong knowledge on FMEA.
- Fluent English (written and spoken)
