Location: Lower Parel, Mumbai

Type: Full-time | On-site

Experience: 0–2 years in food/nutrition R&D

Reports to: Founder

Company: Anthro Food Private Limited

About the Role

We are seeking a curious, driven, and science-forward R&D Food Technologist to join our core team of a transformative nutrition brand. In this role, you will lead product research and formulation, own the R&D laboratory, and work closely with the founder to develop cutting-edge nutrition products that challenge conventional food systems. If you believe nutrition should be functional, complete, and backed by science — and if you're excited to build new practices in food innovation — this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

R&D Leadership:

  • Lead end-to-end formulation of novel nutrition products
  • Research and incorporate cutting-edge nutrition science into product development — including macronutrient optimisation, micronutrient bioavailability, and novel ingredient integration
  • Collaborate with nutritionists, scientists, and advisors to validate functional claims.

Laboratory Management

  • Own and manage day-to-day operations of the on-site R&D lab
  • Maintain ingredient inventory, track batch experiments, and ensure a clean, efficient, and compliant lab environment
  • Set up and operate equipment such as mixers, blenders, sieves, and analyzers.

Formulation, Iteration & Preparation

  • Develop prototypes and conduct stability, shelf-life, and sensory evaluations
  • Continuously improvise existing formulas based on feedback, science, and new ingredient opportunities
  • Work with in-house manufacturing team to scale formulations from bench to production.
  • Work with in-house manufacturing team to assist in production

Documentation & Compliance

  • Document all R&D processes meticulously in lab notebooks and internal databases.
  • Stay updated on FSSAI regulations, food safety protocols, and ingredient labeling standards.

Who You Are

  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in Food Technology or a related field
  • You have 1–2 years of hands-on R&D experience in a food or nutrition lab
  • You're passionately curious about nutrition science, human physiology, and future-forward food design
  • You question norms, love experiments, and believe that food innovation should be both data-backed and delicious
  • You thrive in early-stage environments, enjoy ownership, and are comfortable setting up systems from scratch

Bonus (not required but nice to have)

  • Experience in D2C food brands or startups
  • Understanding of clean-label, plant-based, or functional nutrition trends
  • Exposure to shelf-life and stability testing protocols

Why Join Us

  • Be part of building a bold, disruptive product in a space ripe for innovation.
  • Operate at the intersection of nutrition science and consumer health.
  • Get direct ownership and visibility into product decisions and long-term strategy.
  • Work in an environment that celebrates experimentation, learning, and impact.
