R&D Executive – Hair Care, Skin & Personal Care

Role Overview : We are looking for a proactive R&D Executive with strong formulation skills and a solid understanding of licensing and regulatory compliance in the cosmetics, personal care, or FMCG sector. This role will involve developing new products, improving existing formulations, and ensuring all products meet statutory, licensing, and safety requirements for both domestic and export markets.

Key Responsibilities

1. Research & Development
2. Develop and improve formulations for skincare, haircare, and personal care products in line with brand positioning.
3. Conduct lab trials, stability testing, compatibility testing, and performance evaluations.
4. Source and evaluate raw materials, ensuring compliance with approved ingredient lists.
5. Work with the marketing team to translate product concepts into technically viable formulations.
6. Coordinate with manufacturers for formulation transfer and scale-up.

Licensing & Regulatory Compliance

1. Prepare and submit product dossiers for regulatory approvals and licensing (state FDA, CDSCO, BIS, AYUSH, etc. as applicable).
2. Ensure product labelling meets regulatory requirements (ingredient listing, claims, warnings, etc.) under Drugs & Cosmetics Act, BIS standards, and other relevant laws.
3. Maintain updated knowledge of Indian and global cosmetic regulations (EU, GCC, ASEAN, etc. if exports are planned).
4. Liaise with government authorities for renewals, modifications, and new license applications.
5. Conduct regular audits to ensure manufacturing units and processes are GMP-compliant.

Cross-Functional Coordination

Work closely with procurement for ingredient sourcing and documentation.

Support the quality assurance team in resolving product complaints or compliance issues.

Assist sales and export teams with documentation required for domestic and international markets.

Key Requirements:

Qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, or related field.

Experience: 1–2 years in R&D, preferably in cosmetics, personal care, or derma brands

KPIs / Success Metrics

Number of successful new product launches with full compliance.

On-time completion of licensing and regulatory approvals.

Reduction in regulatory non-compliances or rejections.

Timeliness and accuracy of documentation for domestic and export markets.
