About the Role
At Hipcouch, we bring premium interior design concepts to life. We are looking for a Mid-Senior Cost Estimator / Quantity Surveyor who loves numbers just as much as good design.
This isn't just a back-end data entry role. You will be the crucial bridge between our creative design team, the on-ground project management team, and the client. Your main mission will be to turn design concepts into highly accurate, transparent Bill of Quantities (BOQs) and help clients understand exactly where their investment is going.
Key Responsibilities
- BOQ & Cost Estimation: Create detailed, accurate BOQs and cost estimates for interior design projects (predominantly high-end residential, with occasional commercial projects).
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Design and Project Management teams to extract technical specifications, material selections, and site data to build airtight estimates.
- Client Management: Present and explain BOQs directly to clients. You must be able to break down complex technical line items into plain English, answer their queries patiently, and handle budget optimization discussions confidently.
- Market Analysis & Rate Analysis: Maintain and update a comprehensive database of material costs, labor rates, and vendor pricing specific to the Mumbai market.
- Variation Tracking: Evaluate site changes and variations during the execution phase, assessing their financial impact and updating the BOQs accordingly.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: 4 to 7 years of proven experience in quantity surveying and cost estimation specifically for interior design projects (Residential experience is mandatory).
- Technical Savvy: Absolute mastery over MS Excel / Google Sheets. You should be comfortable reading and interpreting 2D/3D AutoCAD drawings to take accurate measurements.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. You need the tact to handle premium clients and the assertiveness to collaborate with site PMs and vendors.
- Local Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of current material and labor rates across Mumbai.
- Education: Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Interior Design, Architecture, or Construction Management.
