Job Description

Quantitative Software Engineer

We're building a software and analytics platform focused on modeling real-world energy markets— founded and supported by an experienced US-based energy consulting company.

This role offers the opportunity to join at the ground floor of a growing team, while working with the guidance and stability of an established organization.

We're hiring entry-level engineers in India who enjoy working at the intersection of software development, data analytics and energy markets.

What you'll do

●      Write clean, modular, testable Python code using software engineering best practices.

●      Design and optimize database schemas to efficiently store and query complex energy market data

●      Work with time-series data and large-scale datasets.

●      Build and maintain ML and basic Generative AI pipelines, including data cleaning, parsing, chunking, embeddings, and retrieval workflows.

●      Contribute to the development of machine learning and mathematical optimization models.

●      Develop and support backend APIs that integrate ML/AI capabilities into the analytics platform.

●      Analyze differences between simulation software outputs and real-world market results and help identify opportunities to improve model accuracy.

●      Debug, test, and optimize models, pipelines, and APIs for performance, reliability, and scalability.

Required Skills

Technical

●      Strong Python programming - Pandas, NumPy, data pipelines

●      Hands-on experience working with and analyzing time-series data

●      Intermediate knowledge of Database Management Systems, SQL, and schema design principles

●      Basic understanding of APIs and backend development.

●      Familiarity with high-level data solutions, data architecture, and scalable storage patterns

●      Strong working knowledge of Git and version control workflows

●      Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) is a plus.

●      Familiarity with Generative AI concepts (LLMs, prompt engineering, or RAG is a plus).

Analytical

●      Strong problem-solving skills

●      Ability to compare model outputs vs real-world data

●      Attention to detail and pattern recognition

Domain Interest (Critical)

●      Genuine interest in energy markets

●      Willingness to learn domain concepts quickly

●      Domain curiosity is essential

Compensation
