Job Description: QA & Validation Engineer
Location - Remote / Hybrid
Type - Full-time
Experience - 3+ years
About the Role
We are seeking a QA & Validation Engineer (Telecom + API). This role will be responsible for validating multiple products and platforms of U2opia.
The engineer will act as a quality owner across API-driven, telecom-integrated, and operator-facing systems. The role requires strong hands-on experience in telecom QA, API validation, automation testing, performance testing, integration testing, and operator UAT support. The person should be able to work with cross functional teams.
This is not a generic QA role. The selected candidate will work on systems that interact with operator core networks, entitlement APIs, authentication flows, telecom messaging gateways, plugins, and customer-facing integrations.
Key Responsibilities
- Validate flows involving SIM/network-based authentication.
- Test EAP-AKA / EAP-AKA, entitlement API responses, and telecom authentication scenarios.
- Integration with telecom components such as HSS, UDM, AUSF, AAA, PCRF/PCF, where applicable.
- Simulate and validate flows using tools such as Open5GS, srsLTE/srsRAN, Wireshark, Diameter traces, and logs.
- Verify error scenarios such as invalid subscriber, unknown IMSI, failed authentication, timeout, retry, and fallback behavior.
- Test plugin onboarding, configuration, activation, deactivation, versioning, and regression behavior.
- Ensure plugins work consistently across environments and do not break core entitlement or authentication workflows.
- Build reusable regression suites for EaaS core and plugin releases.
- Develop automated regression and performance suites (Robot Framework / JMeter / PyTest).
- Perform load, performance, and stability testing for APIs and telecom workflows using JMeter or equivalent tools.
- Validate KPIs such as: Authentication success rate, API latency, p95/p99 response time, Message submission success rate, Delivery response success rate, Error rate, Retry rate, Timeout behavior.
- Create and maintain test plans, test cases, UAT plans, MOPs, evidence packs, defect reports, and operator/customer sign-off documentation. Prepare QA evidence for operator pilots, customer integrations, and internal release gates.
- Capture and document correlation IDs, transaction IDs, request/response logs, trace files, screenshots, execution reports, and known issues.
- Support live issue reproduction, RCA preparation, and defect validation with engineering and integration teams.
Must-Have Skills
- 2+ years in telecom QA or API testing.
- Hands-on with JMeter, Robot Framework, REST Assured, Python and Pytest.
Good to Have
- Experience testing microservices (REST/JSON, OpenAPI).
- Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, Open5GS, srsLTE/srsRAN, freeDiameter, Wireshark, tcpdump, or telecom simulators.
- Understanding of GSMA TS.43, 3GPP authentication flows, eSIM/eUICC, entitlement APIs, or SIM-based identity.
- Experience with SMPP, HTTP messaging APIs, DLRs, callbacks, retry logic, and customer integration testing.
- Experience creating operator-grade UAT packs, release evidence, and MOPs.
