Job Description

The Quality Inspector will work closely with Business, Project, Procurement, and Engineering teams to provide expert inputs on quality aspects of static equipment, such as pressure vessels and heat exchangers, for process plants. The role ensures compliance with international codes and standards while supporting smooth project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage interfaces with various disciplines and provide guidance on quality, welding, and NDE aspects for process equipment.
  • Review technical offers from bidders to ensure compliance with quality, welding, and NDE requirements.
  • Perform or lead supplier evaluation processes and provide recommendations based on audits.
  • Conduct pre-inspection meetings at supplier locations and Kick-Off Meetings (KOMs).
  • Review quality documents such as ITPs, Weld Books, PWHT, NDE procedures, and final documentation.
  • Perform or lead inspections at supplier locations in accordance with ITP.
  • Handle TPI (Third-Party Inspection) assignments for projects and review/release inspector reports to project teams.
  • Develop CTQ (Critical to Quality) checklists for process equipment based on project specifications and past learnings.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and clients on quality, welding, and NDE aspects.
  • Develop work processes and tools for efficient execution of quality management activities.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed institute.
  • 10-15 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a reputed organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of pressure vessel fabrication per ASME, EN, and other international codes.
  • Experience inspecting ASME Code Stamped equipment.
  • Thorough understanding of fabrication practices, QC methodologies, witnessing pressure tests, and final inspections.
  • Knowledge of heat treatment and related ASME/API requirements.
  • Expertise in quality control of raw materials, receiving inspection, fabrication inspection, final inspection, and documentation.
  • Experience with materials such as CS, low alloy steels, stainless steels, Inconel, etc.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Systems requirements.
  • Level II certifications in PT, MT, RT, and UT under ASNT required.
  • CSWIP or equivalent welding certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in refractory and painting inspection is a plus.
  • Exposure to KBR technology is preferred.
