Desired Candidate Profile-

• Qualification: B.E./B.Tech/Diploma – Mechanical / Metallurgy / Production / relevant engineering discipline preferred.
• Experience: Typically 18+ years in Quality, with significant experience in Transmission Tower / Steel Structure / Power T&D manufacturing.
• Strong hands-on experience in tower manufacturing quality is highly preferred.
• Experience managing a complete plant QA/QC function and quality team.
• Strong exposure to customer/TPI inspection and project-specific quality requirements.
• Should have excellent knowledge of steel fabrication, dimensional inspection and galvanizing quality.

Role Purpose

We are looking for an experienced Quality Head to lead the complete QA/QC function of a Transmission Tower Manufacturing Plant, ensuring consistent product quality, process compliance and customer satisfaction across manufacturing operations.

The role will be responsible for incoming material inspection, in-process quality, welding/fabrication quality, dimensional inspection, galvanizing quality, final inspection, customer inspection, testing, NCR/CAPA and quality systems.

Key Technical Responsibilities

1. Quality Management – Transmission Towers

• Lead the complete QA/QC function for transmission tower manufacturing.
• Ensure manufacturing activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, QAP/ITP, customer requirements and applicable standards.
• Establish and monitor quality objectives, processes and plant-level quality KPIs.
• Drive continuous improvement and reduction of rejection, rework and customer complaints.

2. Raw Material & Incoming Inspection

• Control inspection of structural steel, plates, angles, bolts, nuts and other bought-out components.
• Verify MTCs, chemical composition, mechanical properties, dimensions and traceability.
• Ensure material compliance with approved specifications and project requirements.

3. Fabrication & Manufacturing Quality

• Monitor quality of cutting, punching, drilling, bending, fit-up and fabrication processes.
• Ensure dimensional accuracy, hole pitch, edge distance, straightness and component tolerances.
• Control identification and traceability of tower components throughout production.
• Ensure compliance with approved drawings and manufacturing procedures.

4. Welding / Fabrication Quality

• Monitor welding activities wherever applicable.
• Ensure compliance with approved WPS/PQR, welder qualification and welding inspection requirements.
• Coordinate relevant NDT / inspection activities and ensure proper documentation.

5. Hot-Dip Galvanizing Quality

• Lead quality control for hot-dip galvanizing of tower components.
• Monitor zinc coating thickness, adhesion, appearance and uniformity.
• Control pre-treatment, pickling, fluxing and galvanizing parameters.
• Ensure compliance with applicable galvanizing specifications and customer requirements.

6. Inspection, Testing & Customer Coordination

• Prepare/review QAP, ITP, inspection procedures and quality documentation.
• Coordinate customer/TPI inspections and final inspection.
• Ensure timely closure of inspection observations and NCRs.
• Maintain complete inspection, testing and release documentation.

7. NCR, CAPA & Continuous Improvement

• Lead investigation of internal rejection, rework, customer complaints and NCRs.
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement CAPA.
• Monitor recurring defects and drive preventive actions.
• Implement quality improvement initiatives to improve First Pass Yield and reduce rejection/rework.

8. Quality Systems & Audit

• Ensure implementation of QMS procedures across the plant.
• Lead internal, customer and certification audits.
• Ensure compliance with applicable quality standards, procedures and customer-specific requirements.
• Maintain quality records, calibration records and inspection documentation.
