Primary Responsibilities:

  • Define and drive quality strategy for data products (pipelines, datasets, APIs, reports)
  • Translate business requirements into testable acceptance criteria and quality gates
  • Design and implement automated tests (unit, integration, end-to-end) for ETL/ELT workflows
  • Build data validation checks (schema drift, null/duplicate detection, referential integrity, business rules)
  • Establish CI/CD quality controls (test execution, code review standards, release readiness)
  • Create and maintain test data, mocks/stubs, and repeatable environments
  • Monitor production quality signals, triage defects, and lead root-cause analysis with engineering
  • Partner with data engineers, analysts, and product to improve observability, documentation, and data trust
  • Track quality metrics (defect leakage, test coverage, DQ scorecards) and drive continuous improvement
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regard to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field
  • 5+ years in QA/test engineering, including solid automation ownership
  • Experience testing data pipelines and/or distributed systems (batch and streaming)
  • Hands-on CI/CD experience (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins) and version control (Git)
  • Solid SQL skills and experience validating complex transformations and large datasets
  • Proficiency in one scripting language (Python preferred) and test frameworks
  • Familiarity with data quality tooling/patterns: profiling, anomaly detection, schema management, lineage concepts
  • Ability to debug across layers (jobs, logs, metrics, queries) and communicate clear defect reports
  • Solid stakeholder skills: requirements clarification, risk-based testing, and mentoring

Preferred Qualification:

  • Knowledge of cloud data platforms and orchestration (e.g., Azure/AWS/GCP, Airflow/ADF/Databricks)
