. Purpose of Position
- The Quality & Quantity Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all construction materials, workmanship and quantities in the project meet the defined technical, contractual and safety standards. The position plays a dual role in maintaining strict quality assurance/control protocols while also overseeing accurate measurement, certification and financial monitoring of executed works.
- The position performs in line with the Bureau Veritas Quality Assurance System, including the BV Code of Ethics and the BV Group policy.
. Major Responsibilities
Quality Scope
. Review and verify all material test certificates and quality reports submitted by contractors/manufacturers.
. Randomly witness third-party laboratory tests for construction materials and fresh concrete (slump test, cube making, curing, etc.).
. Supervise site practices including sampling, collection, placement of concrete and curing to ensure compliance with specifications.
. Review monthly test results and highlight non-conformities or abnormal findings.
. Inspect Ready-Mix Concrete (RMC) plant operations to verify adherence to approved design mix and quality standards.
Quantity Scope
. Review contractor's monthly progress reports and validate physical progress against planned targets.
. Monitor and verify material consumption, inventory and indents raised.
. Examine contractor's submitted quantities and bills recommend, reject, or comment for approval, highlighting any discrepancies.
. Review and track project budget, contractor costs and actual expenditures identify variances and recommend corrective actions.
. Assess contractors/subcontractors claims, variations and disputes for accuracy and contractual compliance.
. Certify value of completed work for interim and final payments.
. Assist in preparing the final cost statement and resolving outstanding financial matters.
- Qualification, Experience & Technical Knowledge
- B.E./B.Tech in Civil - Experience in Infrastructure Projects and overall experience of 7 years minimum.
- In-depth understanding of road construction techniques, materials, and specifications (bituminous, concrete, and granular works).
- Familiarity with relevant IS codes, IRC standards, MoRTH specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong knowledge of Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures in civil engineering.
- Proficiency in cost estimation, quantity surveying, and bill verification processes.
- Knowledge of material testing procedures (laboratory and field).
- Understanding of construction budgeting, financial monitoring, and project cost control.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze test results, cost data, and variances effectively.
- Attention to Detail: Ensures accuracy in quality checks, material verification, and bill certification.
- Communication Skills: Clear reporting and coordination with contractors, consultants, and clients.
- Decision Making: Capable of providing recommendations on material acceptance, payment certification, and dispute handling.
- Technical Proficiency: Competence in MS Excel, AutoCAD, ERP/project management tools, and cost reporting software.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to detect quality deviations or financial irregularities and suggest corrective actions.
- Integrity & Professionalism: Upholds ethical standards while reviewing bills, claims, and disputes.
- Team Collaboration: Works effectively with project management teams, site engineers, and contractors.
