Quality Control Engineer Central QC

About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Quality Control Engineer to anchor quality across our product lifecycle from supplier inputs to field performance.
You will own process control, spec documentation, supplier audits, NPI quality gates, and field issue resolution as a central function bridging design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.
Key Responsibilities
Process Control
Define, monitor, and maintain Statistical Process Control (SPC) parameters for critical manufacturing operations
Own and update Control Plans for all active product lines, including CTQ (Critical to Quality) characteristics
Conduct periodic process audits on the shop floor and flag deviations with structured CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action)
Collaborate with production teams to embed quality checkpoints into assembly and testing stages Supplier Quality Control
Conduct Incoming Quality Control (IQC) for raw materials and bought-out components against approved specs
Perform supplier audits and maintain supplier scorecards for on-time quality compliance
Drive PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) or equivalent first-article approvals for new or changed components
Raise and track Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCARs) and verify effectiveness of closures
Specification & Ideal Spec Documentation
Create and maintain Ideal Spec Sheets, tolerance documents, and inspection criteria for components and finished goods
Standardize Acceptance Quality Limits (AQL) sampling plans aligned with IS/BIS or applicable standards
Maintain a centralized spec repository and ensure version control across engineering change cycles
Author and update SOPs, Work Instructions, and quality checklists for inspection stations
Field Issue Resolution
Act as the QC anchor for field complaints and warranty returns triage, document, and drive root cause analysis
Use structured tools such as 8D, Fishbone (Ishikawa), and 5-Why for failure investigation and reporting
Coordinate with service, design, and production teams to close issues with verified corrective actions
Track field failure rate trends and proactively flag systemic issues to product and engineering teams
New Product Introduction (NPI)
Participate in Design for Quality (DFQ) reviews during NPI stages provide quality risk assessments
Define and execute First Article Inspection (FAI) and pilot batch qualification protocols
Establish quality benchmarks, test plans, and inspection checklists before production scale-up
Ensure all NPI components and assemblies have approved specs and supplier qualifications before launch
Qualifications & Skills Area Requirement
Education - B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
Experience - 3 years in a QC/QA role in a manufacturing environment
Standards Knowledge - IS/BIS, ISO 9001, AQL sampling (IS 2500) Tools SPC, CAPA, 8D, FMEA, PPAP/FAI
Software - MS Excel (data analysis), QMS tools, basic ERP/PLM familiarity
Soft Skills- Cross-functional communication, structured problem-solving, documentation discipline

Experience in electromechanical product quality (pumps, appliances, or similar assemblies)
Exposure to multilevel BOM-based quality control component level through finished goods
Ability to write clear, copy-paste-ready spec and test documents independently
