Job Description

Job Title: Quality Control & Management

Location: Bhutan (Project Site Hydro Power Plant)

Experience: Minimum 15 years

Educational Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Civil / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or related discipline

Employment Type: Full-time, Onsite Deputation to Bhutan

Industry: Power / Energy / Hydro Power Projects

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Control & Assurance Management

  • Ensure the management of Quality Control & Assurance processes across all phases of construction and equipment installation.
  • Ensure full compliance with the Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs) approved for all contractors working on the hydro power plant.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001 standards and project-specific requirements.
  • Conduct regular quality audits, inspections, and surveillance to verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, and international standards.

Inspection & NCR Management

  • Monitor the inspection schedule and ensure timely execution of inspections with relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with contractors and consultants for timely closure of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and ensure preventive and corrective actions are implemented effectively.
  • Review root cause analyses and recommend mitigation measures to avoid recurrence of non-conformance.

Quality Review & Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct Quality Review Meetings with contractors, consultants, and project management to assess quality performance and address ongoing issues.
  • Recommend technical and procedural improvements based on data trends and site observations to enhance project quality outcomes.
  • Develop training and awareness programs to promote a Quality First culture at the project site.

Material and Equipment Monitoring

  • Closely follow up with contractors for material and equipment delivery schedules and highlight any anticipated delays to the Project Director and relevant departments.
  • Coordinate with logistics and procurement teams to ensure timely availability and inspection of project-critical materials.

Documentation & Drawing Control

  • Maintain up-to-date records of approved drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Ensure only the latest approved versions of construction drawings and documentation are issued to the site for execution.
  • Implement document control procedures and version tracking to avoid rework or construction errors.

Compliance & International Standards

  • Ensure that the Quality Plan, as prepared and implemented, meets international standards and contractual requirements.
  • Ensure quality coverage over design, construction, installation, testing, and commissioning stages of the hydro power project.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of QA/QC methodologies applicable to hydro power projects.
  • Sound understanding of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills for managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Experience working with EPC contractors and international consultants is preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in technical reporting.

Work Environment and Conditions:

  • The role is based on-site in Bhutan at a hydro power project location.
  • Candidate must be willing to relocate for the project duration and operate under challenging terrain and high-altitude conditions.
  • Accommodation and site facilities will be provided as per company policy.
