Quality Control & Monitoring Engineer - Hydro Power Project (300 MW) | Bhutan

We are seeking an experienced Quality Control & Monitoring Engineer with strong Project Management Consultancy (PMC) background for a large-scale hydro power plant project in Bhutan.

About the Role

The Quality Control & Monitoring Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all construction, installation, and commissioning activities meet approved quality standards, specifications, and contractual requirements for a high-capacity hydro power project.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) systems for hydro power projects
  • Review and approve method statements, inspection & test plans (ITPs), quality manuals, and procedures
  • Monitor construction activities including civil, hydro-mechanical, electro-mechanical, and E&M works
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and quality reviews
  • Ensure compliance with contract documents, technical specifications, and international standards
  • Identify non-conformities and ensure timely corrective and preventive actions
  • Coordinate with contractors, designers, and client representatives
  • Prepare and submit quality reports, progress monitoring reports, and compliance documentation
  • Support project management team in risk mitigation related to quality and performance
  • Assist during testing, commissioning, and handover phases

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering (Civil / Mechanical / Electrical or relevant discipline)
  • Minimum 15 years of total professional experience in hydro power projects
  • Mandatory experience in Project Management Consultancy (PMC) or Engineer-in-Charge roles
  • Proven experience on hydro power plant projects of minimum 300 MW capacity
  • Strong knowledge of hydro power construction practices, QA/QC systems, and international standards
  • Experience working in mountainous or remote project locations preferred
  • Excellent coordination, documentation, and reporting skills
