Your Role:
As an QA Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring high-quality software delivery by driving Behavior Driven Development (BDD) practices and implementing scalable test automation solutions. This role demands strong expertise in BDD Cucumber, Java, Selenium, and web browser automation, along with hands-on experience working in Agile development environments. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across the software development lifecycle to validate web applications, ensure system reliability, and support production environments on a rotational basis.
Key Responsibilities
BDD, Automation Testing & Framework Development
- Design, develop, and maintain BDD-based automated test scenarios using Cucumber aligned with business requirements.
- Implement Java-based automation frameworks following industry best practices and test design patterns.
- Develop and execute web browser automation for web applications using Selenium.
- Write readable, reusable, and maintainable Gherkin feature files to support Behavior Driven Development.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing across complex web applications.
- Ensure automation coverage across UI layers and critical business workflows.
Agile Development & Quality Engineering
- Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with developers and product owners to ensure acceptance criteria are clearly understood and validated through BDD scenarios.
- Promote quality-first practices throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Enable continuous testing within Agile delivery models to ensure early defect detection.
Testing, Debugging & Validation
- Validate web application behavior against functional and non-functional requirements.
- Apply strong analytical and debugging skills to identify root causes of defects.
- Ensure application stability, usability, and performance across different browsers.
- Support validation of business logic and workflows within complex software systems.
Collaboration & Production Support
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including Development, Product, and Business stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing strategies and automation approaches.
- Provide rotational production support once or twice a month, including occasional weekend support.
- Assist in production issue analysis and validation to ensure quick resolution.
Your Profile
Mandatory Skills
- 4 to 9 years of experience in QA Engineering / SDET roles.
- BDD Cucumber experience is mandatory with strong hands-on implementation.
- Strong programming experience in Java.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Selenium for web browser automation.
- Solid understanding of web application architecture and web development concepts.
- Strong experience working in Agile methodology / Agile development environments.
- Sound knowledge of software development principles, SDLC, and test life cycle.
- Proficiency in information technology fundamentals and programming languages.
Additional Skills
- Experience testing complex web-based applications.
- Good understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and browser behavior.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in collaborative team environments.
- Flexibility to support periodic weekend production activities.
