Amazon's Alexa Smart Properties (ASP) team is seeking a seasoned and strategic Quality Assurance Manager to lead and scale quality engineering across the entire ASP product portfolio. ASP powers Alexa experiences in hospitality, senior living, healthcare, and other commercial environments - and this role is responsible for ensuring enterprise-grade quality at scale across all verticals, device types, and partner integrations.
As a QA Manager, you will collaborate in setting the quality vision and strategy for the ASP organization, lead multiple QA team members (SDETs, QAEs, QATs), drive cross-organizational quality initiatives, and serve as the senior quality voice in executive-level planning and decision-making. You will influence engineering culture, define and maintain quality standards that extend beyond your immediate team, and build scalable quality programs that support ASP's rapid growth across global markets.
Key job responsibilities
.Define and own the organization-wide quality strategy for ASP, spanning all verticals (hospitality, senior living, healthcare, commercial) and product lines (cloud services, device experiences, partner integrations)
.Lead, develop, and scale multiple QA team members including SDETs, QAEs, and offshore/vendor QA resources, building a high-performing quality engineering organization
.Input to the strategic direction for test automation, establishing architecture standards, coverage targets, and ROI-driven investment priorities across the QA organization
.Drive cross-organizational quality initiatives that influence engineering practices beyond the QA team - including shift-left adoption, design-for-testability standards, and production quality feedback loops
.Own and evolve the ASP quality metrics framework, defining KPIs (defect escape rate, BCF failure reduction, automation coverage, certification pass rates) and presenting quality health to senior leadership
.Champion non-functional requirements (NFRs) at the organizational level - including performance, reliability, accessibility, security, and scalability testing programs
.Lead process improvement and operational excellence initiatives (e.g., Value Stream Mapping, quality retrospectives, defect prevention programs) to continuously reduce waste and improve delivery velocity
.Represent the QA organization in executive reviews, business reviews, and planning cycles, translating quality data into actionable business insights
- 8+ years of quality assurance team management experience
- 4+ years of quality assurance engineering experience, or Master's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience building test automation frameworks and tools
- Experience preparing quality metrics and effectively engaging with stakeholders to set and drive quality goals
- Experience influencing at all levels within an organization, particularly at the executive level
- Experience in verbal and written communication for executive level leaders
- Track record of defining and executing organization-wide quality strategies for large-scale, distributed software systems
- Experience with embedded systems, consumer devices, or mobile apps
- Experience in production, monitoring and metrics reporting
- Experience using Lean Process Improvement, Six Sigma methodologies or related performance metrics/process improvements to increase efficiency within processes, forecasting, planning, optimization, and logistics
- Track record of driving 70-80%+ automation coverage across multiple product areas with measurable impact on defect escape rates
- Experience with LLM-powered or AI/ML-driven product quality programs, including defining validation strategies for non-deterministic systems
- Deep familiarity with enterprise software delivery in regulated or compliance-driven environments (e.g., healthcare, hospitality, senior living) including managing certification programs at scale
