About the Role
You'll lead automation, performance, and data integrity initiatives ensuring our product can handle thousands of customers, hundreds of thousands of users, and enterprise-grade expectations without breaking. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can architect scalable quality systems today and evolve into Head of Quality within 24-36 months.
Key Outcomes (What Success Looks Like)
- Establish a scalable automation framework that's resilient to UI changes and supports continuous releases.
- Build a data integrity testing system to ensure customer isolation and prevent cross-tenant data issues.
- Implement performance and load testing as part of the regular release cycle.
- Create visibility into quality metrics through dashboards and quality KPIs.
- Strengthen the QA team's technical capabilities and position the function for long-term scalability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead QA engineering and own product quality across releases.
- Build and scale test automation systems across web, API, and performance.
- Design and maintain test data generation systems for realistic customer simulation.
- Partner with Engineering to embed quality gates into CI/CD.
- Define and measure key quality KPIs (defect leakage, automation coverage, test pass rate, etc.).
- Conduct performance, scalability, and load testing for core workflows.
- Work with Security/DevOps to validate data access, customer isolation, and SOC2 compliance controls.
- Mentor QA engineers and drive a culture of proactive quality ownership.
Qualifications
- 710 years in QA for SaaS products, ideally B2B or multi-tenant systems.
- Proven experience in Ruby on Rails or similar backend-heavy environments.
- Deep experience in automation frameworks (Cypress, Playwright, or similar).
- Solid understanding of AWS, Postgres, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience setting up performance and load testing frameworks (e.g., JMeter, k6).
- Prior experience scaling from startup to growth stage ($5M$50M ARR) preferred.
- Excellent communication able to collaborate with product and engineering to balance quality with speed.
