Quality Assurance Engineer - Level 1 (Manual + Automation)

Our tech team builds the borrower journeys, partner tools, CRM, bank recommendation engine and automation that run this ecosystem.

Role Summary:

We're hiring a QA Engineer (Level 1) to help us ship reliable releases across the Ruloans web platform, the Ruconnect partner app, our internal CRM and backend APIs. You'll handle structured manual testing and grow into test automation: writing and maintaining UI and API test scripts and plugging them into our release pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

Testing & Quality

1. Create, execute, and maintain test cases and test scenarios based on product requirements (BRDs, PRDs, user stories).
2. Run functional, regression, smoke and sanity testing on web, mobile and API releases.
3. Test key lending journeys, such as lead creation, eligibility and CIBIL checks, document upload, application status tracking and DSA commission flows.
4. Log, track and retest defects with clear steps to reproduce, severity, screenshots and logs.
5. Take part in sprint ceremonies and give QA sign-off before production releases.

QA Documentation & Test Management

1. Maintain QA documentation, including test plans, test reports, bug reports, and regression suites.
2. Organize test cases using tags for module, priority, test type, platform, and execution status.

Ensure requirement traceability, test coverage, and documentation updates for every release.

Automation

1. Write and maintain automated UI test scripts using Selenium, Playwright or Cypress.
2. Automate REST API tests using Postman/Newman or RestAssured/PyTest.
3. Add automated test suites to CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/GitHub Actions) under the guidance of senior engineers.
4. Keep test data, test suites and automation reports up to date.

Data & Backend Checks

1. Write basic SQL queries (MySQL) to check that data was saved correctly after a transaction.
2. Use logging and monitoring tools (e.g., Kibana) to dig into failures and API errors.

Required Skills

1. At least 1 year of hands-on experience in software testing, including some exposure to test automation.
2. Solid grasp of SDLC, STLC, defect lifecycle and test design techniques (boundary value analysis, equivalence partitioning).
3. Hands-on with at least one automation tool: Selenium, Playwright or Cypress.
4. Working knowledge of one programming language: Java, Python or JavaScript.
5. Experience testing REST APIs with Postman (status codes, request/response validation, auth headers). Basic SQL: SELECT, JOIN, WHERE, GROUP BY.
6. Familiar with a bug-tracking or project tool such as ClickUp, Jira or similar.
7. Strong attention to detail and clear written communication.

Good to Have

1. Exposure to mobile app testing (Android/iOS) or Appium.
2. Basic knowledge of Git and CI/CD pipelines.
3. Experience with BFSI/fintech/lending products (KYC, loan applications, credit checks).
4. Awareness of basic security and performance testing (e.g., JMeter).
5. ISTQB Foundation certification.
