About the Company

The Assistant Manager - Quality is responsible for ensuring that the quality standards in automobile manufacturing are maintained and improved. This position works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the design, manufacturing processes, and final product meet or exceed quality standards. The role will involve overseeing quality control processes, audits, continuous improvement initiatives, and managing a team of quality inspectors.

This position works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the design, manufacturing processes, and final product meet or exceed quality standards. The role will involve overseeing quality control processes, audits, continuous improvement initiatives, and managing a team of quality inspectors.

Responsibilities

  • Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure all production processes meet the required quality standards.
  • Oversee the inspection of raw materials, parts, and finished products.
  • Develop and implement quality control plans, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.

  • Process Improvement:
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives for quality issues.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality and production efficiency.
  • Propose and implement improvements to optimize production processes and reduce defects.
  • Coordinate with engineering and production teams to resolve quality-related challenges.

  • Team Leadership and Development:
  • Supervise and mentor a team of quality inspectors and technicians.
  • Provide training on quality standards, inspection techniques, and new technologies.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback for skill development.

  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Prepare and maintain detailed reports on product quality and performance.
  • Conduct internal audits and prepare for external quality audits.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of quality processes, non-conformances, and corrective actions.

  • Customer and Supplier Interaction:
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure material and component quality.
  • Address customer complaints and warranty issues related to product quality.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers to understand their quality expectations.

  • Compliance and Standards:
  • Ensure that all manufacturing processes adhere to ISO 9001 and other relevant industry certifications and standards.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and new quality regulations.
  • Ensure product compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

Educational Qualifications:

  • Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering or a related field.

  • Experience:
  • 8-10 years of experience in quality assurance or quality control in the automobile manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with quality systems, audits, and troubleshooting production issues.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of quality tools (e.g., FMEA, SPC, root cause analysis, control plans).
  • Proficient in using quality inspection equipment and software (e.g., CMM, Statistical Process Control).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes in the automobile industry (e.g., stamping, welding, assembly, testing).

Pay range and compensation package

Full-time position, typically Monday through Friday, potential overtime depending on requirements.

Work is typically performed in a factory/production environment, which may include exposure to noise, machinery, and other industrial conditions. Occasional travel may be required for supplier audits or customer meetings.
