ClearRoute is a global engineering consultancy specializing in cloud platforms, quality engineering, and developer experience. We are hiring a QA Automation Engineer to lead AWS-focused automation testing for a major banking customer while helping establish quality standards for a growing cloud engineering team.
This is a unique opportunity to become the first AWS-focused QA hire on the project, taking ownership of cloud infrastructure testing, automation strategy, and engineering best practices while working alongside highly experienced cloud and platform engineering teams.

What You'll Do
- Own automation testing for AWS infrastructure provisioning and cloud platform workflows.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test frameworks using Python and AWS services.
- Build and execute BDD-based automated test scenarios for infrastructure, platform, and cloud engineering use cases.
- Validate AWS resource provisioning, configurations, integrations, and operational workflows.
- Design scalable and maintainable test automation solutions for cloud-native environments.
- Work closely with engineering teams to improve platform quality, reliability, and deployment confidence.
- Extend and improve an existing automation framework following an initial project handover.
- Identify quality risks, performance issues, and reliability concerns early in the development lifecycle.
- Support CI/CD pipelines by integrating automated testing into cloud delivery workflows.
- Collaborate with client stakeholders, developers, cloud engineers, and QA teams to ensure high-quality releases.
- Communicate technical findings, risks, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Help define automation standards, testing strategies, and quality engineering best practices.
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in QA automation, software testing, quality engineering, or SDET roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python-based test automation.
- Practical experience working with AWS cloud services and cloud-native environments.
- Experience using Boto3 or equivalent AWS SDKs for automation, validation, and cloud service interactions.
- Strong understanding of BDD frameworks, automated testing methodologies, and maintainable test design.
- Experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure-as-code environments.
- Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
- Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work independently with a strong ownership mindset.
- Experience in banking, financial services, cloud consulting, or enterprise technology environments is highly desirable.
