Job Description

Firebucks is looking for a sharp, game-savvy QA engineer to join our growing quality engineering team. You'll be embedded with an exciting client working on RPG titles - owning test coverage end-to-end while serving as the quality voice in client conversations. If you bleed attention to detail and love breaking games for a living, this one's for you.

Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and track test cases for RPG game features - gameplay mechanics, quests, combat systems, UI/UX, and performance.
  • Perform functional, regression, exploratory, and compatibility testing across target platforms.
  • Log, reproduce, and triage bugs with clear reproduction steps, severity ratings, and evidence artefacts.
  • Liaise directly with client stakeholders to communicate test progress, risks, and quality insights.
  • Collaborate with dev and product teams to clarify requirements and define acceptance criteria.
  • Participate in sprint ceremonies.
  • Contribute to test automation efforts using tools relevant to game testing pipelines.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of QA/testing experience, with at least 1 year on game testing - RPG titles preferred.
  • Solid understanding of SDLC, test lifecycle, and bug-tracking workflows (JIRA or equivalent).
  • Hands-on experience with exploratory and structured test design techniques.
  • Familiarity with game genres, RPG mechanics, save/load systems, economy balancing, and progression loops, not just as a tester, but as someone who understands what makes them tick.
  • Experience with cross-platform testing (PC, console, and/or mobile).
  • Exposure to test automation tools is nice to have.

Must-haves

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills - this is a client-facing role.
  • You should be comfortable presenting test summaries, participating in client calls, and translating QA findings into clear, business-relevant language.
