Job Description
QA Test Engineer
Quality Engineering
ROLE OVERVIEW
MSIL is looking for a QA Automation Engineer with 3-5 years of experience who is equally comfortable with manual/functional testing and automation. The role requires a clear, hands-on understanding of core manual testing concepts (test case design, functional and regression testing, exploratory and UAT testing) along with the ability to build and maintain automation frameworks for UI, API, and database validation. The candidate will work across multiple projects simultaneously, coordinate closely with development teams on a day-to-day basis, and provide constructive feedback to help improve code quality and release readiness.
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
.Demonstrate a clear, working understanding of manual and functional testing concepts, including test case design techniques such as boundary value analysis and equivalence partitioning.
.Analyse business and functional requirements to prepare test scenarios, test cases, test data, and requirement traceability matrices.
.Execute functional, regression, smoke, sanity, exploratory, system, and UAT-support testing across web and API applications.
.Validate bug fixes and enhancements manually before automation coverage is built out.
.Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks (Page Object Model, Hybrid, Data-Driven, Keyword-Driven, BDD/Cucumber) for UI, API, and integration testing.
.Automate web UI test cases using Playwright and/or Selenium WebDriver.
.Build API automation using REST Assured, Postman, or Python-based frameworks.
.Develop database and ETL validation scripts using SQL (joins, stored procedures) to compare source and target systems.
.Hands-on experience in performance and load testing using K6/JMeter, including workload design, execution & analysis of response time, throughput and error rates.
.Performed security testing using OWASP Based practices and security scanning tools, supporting identification and remediation of application vulnerabilities.
.Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps) and maintain test execution reports (Allure/Extent Reports).
.Continuously identify opportunities to expand automation coverage and reduce repetitive manual testing effort.
.Manage and prioritize testing activities across multiple concurrent projects/releases, balancing timelines without compromising quality.
.Maintain strong, ongoing coordination with development teams throughout the SDLC to clarify requirements, discuss defects, and validate fixes quickly.
.Provide clear, constructive feedback to developers on defects, code quality, and testability to support faster resolution and continuous improvement.
.Collaborate with Business Analysts, Product Owners, and DevOps/SRE teams to align on quality standards and delivery timelines.
.Participate actively in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, estimation, retrospectives, and defect triage.
.Review requirements and identify suitable automation candidates in collaboration with the team.
.Perform root cause analysis on defects and track issues to closure, reporting quality metrics and test status to stakeholders.
