Job Description
We are looking for a QA Engineer with 2–4 years of experience in manual testing, API/backend testing, UI automation, and test automation. The candidate should have strong testing fundamentals, programming knowledge, and hands-on experience in developing reusable automation solutions. The role involves testing cloud-hosted backend services, REST APIs, integrations, and web applications, designing test scenarios, automating repetitive and regression test cases, validating end-to-end workflows, and troubleshooting issues across application, database, and infrastructure layers.
Key Responsibilities
Manual, Functional & Backend Testing
- Analyze business and technical requirements and create test scenarios, test cases, test data, and test plans.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, system, smoke, sanity, negative, boundary, exploratory, and end-to-end testing.
- Perform REST API testing using Swagger/OpenAPI, Postman, and cURL.
- Validate API request/response payloads, HTTP methods, status codes, headers, authentication, schemas, data types, and business rules.
- Perform functional, integration, and end-to-end testing of cloud-hosted REST APIs and backend services across multiple environments.
- Validate communication and workflows between distributed backend services, including API dependencies and third-party integrations.
- Perform backend/database validation using SQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
- Validate application behavior across different environments and releases.
- Analyze application/service logs, API responses, and monitoring data to troubleshoot backend failures, latency, connectivity, and integration issues.
- Identify, document, track, and verify defects through the complete defect lifecycle.
- Perform root-cause analysis and collaborate with developers, DevOps, and product teams to resolve issues.
- Participate in test planning, estimation, test execution, release validation, and regression cycles.
Automation Testing
- Develop and maintain Python-based automation for API and UI testing.
- Automate repetitive, regression, functional, negative, boundary, and workflow-based test scenarios.
- Develop reusable and data/config-driven automation frameworks to improve test coverage and reduce manual effort.
- Perform API automation including authentication, request/response validation, schema validation, retries, API chaining, and third-party service validation.
- Develop UI automation using Selenium for critical end-to-end workflows.
- Maintain reusable test components, test data, configurations, and automated reporting.
- Analyze automation failures and troubleshoot issues using logs, API responses, and application behavior.
- Identify suitable test cases for automation and continuously improve automation coverage and execution efficiency.
Performance & System Testing
- Perform load and performance testing using JMeter.
- Work with distributed applications and containerized environments.
- Use monitoring and logging tools to identify application and system bottlenecks. Preferred Candidate
- 2–4 years of experience in Software Testing / QA.
- Strong hands-on experience in manual testing with good API/backend testing knowledge.
- Experience testing cloud-hosted backend services, REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Practical experience in Python-based API/UI automation.
- Good understanding of STLC, SDLC, defect lifecycle, test design techniques, and Agile methodologies.
- Experience developing or working with reusable automation frameworks.
- Good debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Exposure to performance testing, databases, monitoring tools, and cloud/containerized environments is preferred.
