QA Automation Engineer

We are hiring a QA Automation Engineer for our HRTech product team. The role involves end-to-end testing of HRMS and Payroll product features, creating automation coverage, validating functional flows, and coordinating closely with the Product Head and development team for release readiness.

The ideal candidate should have strong HRMS and payroll functional knowledge, along with hands-on experience in test automation. This is a product QA role where understanding business flows is as important as writing automation scripts.

Reporting

This role reports directly to the Product Head.

Key Responsibilities

• Own functional testing and automation testing for HRMS and Payroll modules.
• Work closely with the Product Head to understand business requirements and release priorities.
• Prepare test scenarios, test cases, regression suites, and release validation checklists.
• Test end-to-end flows across employee, attendance, leave, payroll, reimbursement, performance, approvals, reports, and admin console.
• Build and maintain automation scripts for UI, API, regression, and integration testing.
• Validate payroll calculations, statutory inputs, attendance impact, leave impact, reimbursements, FNF, and payslip outputs.
• Identify functional gaps, integration issues, edge cases, and regression risks.
• Coordinate with developers for issue reproduction, clarification, retesting, and release closure.
• Use AI-assisted tools to speed up test case creation, automation scripting, and defect analysis.

Required Skills

• Strong QA experience in web-based business applications.
• Hands-on experience in automation testing using tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Postman, REST Assured, or similar.
• Good understanding of HRMS and Payroll workflows.
• Ability to test both frontend and backend APIs.
• Basic SQL knowledge for data validation.
• Ability to create end-to-end test scenarios from business workflows.
• Experience using AI tools such as Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, or similar is preferred.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.

Functional Knowledge Expected

• Employee master and employee lifecycle.
• Attendance, shifts, punches, overtime, and regularization.
• Leave policies, balances, accruals, encashment, and approvals.
• Payroll processing, salary components, earnings, deductions, statutory inputs, payslips, and finalization.
• Reimbursements, finance verification, and settlement.
• Approval workflows and role-based access.
• HR, attendance, leave, payroll, and compliance reports.

Preferred Background

• Experience testing HRMS, Payroll, HCM, ERP, Finance, or Workforce Management products.
• Knowledge of Indian payroll is highly preferred.
• Experience in SaaS product testing will be an advantage.
• Exposure to CI/CD-based automation testing is preferred.

Experience

2-3 years preferred.
