QA Automation Engineer

Summary:

The QA Automation Engineer is responsible for building and executing the test strategy for the Car Hire Plus modernization. This involves validating new React/Spring Boot functionality and ensuring parity against legacy .NET behavior. The role involves owning automated regression coverage across UI, API, and integration layers, and collaborating closely with a senior, four-person delivery team.

Responsibilities:

• Design and maintain automated test suites covering UI (React), API (Spring Boot), and messaging (Kafka/IBM MQ) layers.
• Validate new Car Hire Plus functionality against legacy .NET behavior to confirm parity during the lift-and-shift conversion.
• Build and execute regression suites supporting the Car Hire Payable MVP targeted for the first quarter.
• Participate in discovery workshops to help define acceptance criteria and test scope for the CR.
• Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline and report on coverage and defect trends.
• Execute fix-verify cycles during UAT, logging, and re-verifying defects within sprint cadence.
• Collaborate with Front-End, Full-Stack, and Backend developers, and the Car Hire Plus technical lead on test coverage gaps.
• Participate in sprint ceremonies (planning, standups, reviews, retrospectives).

Requirements:

• 6 years of QA experience with a strong hands-on test automation background.

Required Skills:

• Proficiency with a modern automation framework (Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress) for web UI testing.
• API test automation experience (Postman/Newman, REST Assured, or equivalent).
• Comfortable testing against PostgreSQL-backed applications.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Senior-level candidate — role is not suited to junior or staff-level profiles
• Experience validating messaging-based integrations (Kafka, IBM MQ) is a plus.
