Role Overview
We are seeking accomplished Python Engineers with 3-6 years of corporate software industry experience to join our mission as an Industry Mentor. This role is vital for individuals passionate about shaping the next generation of talent by guiding student cohorts through live, industry-standard software development, data engineering, and backend development projects leveraging Python. You will act as a subject matter expert and coach, ensuring students master technical skills in a workplace way of working.
Key Responsibilities
You will operate within TrooperCruit's Agile framework system in the Campus as a Workplace model, focusing on the practical application of Python within commercial software development.
1. Technical Mentorship & Guidance
- Project Supervision: Supervise 12-member student cohorts on real-time software development problem statements provided by corporate partners (e.g., API development, data pipeline construction, automation tools).
- Workflow Coaching: Coach students on the end-to-end SDLC for Python applications, including requirements analysis, system architecture design, secure coding practices, testing, and deployment.
- Tech Stack Expertise: Provide deep technical guidance in core Python ecosystems:
- Backend & Web: Django, Flask, FastAPI.
- Data/Analytics: Pandas, NumPy, SQL integration.
- Architecture: RESTful APIs, Microservices, Cloud integration (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- DevOps: Version control (Git), Containerization (Docker), CI/CD pipelines.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct rigorous code reviews, guide students on best practices (PEP 8), design patterns, and ensure projects meet industry standards for maintainability and scalability.
2. Integrated Learning & Agile Culture
- Agile Integration: Work closely with the Junior Scrum Master to embed the Agile demands of the industrial world, ensuring Python development tasks are effectively defined, estimated, and executed within Sprint cycles.
- Professional Competency: Guide students on the non-technical but critical aspects of corporate work, including:
- Team Collaboration and effective communication within cross-functional teams.
- Problem-Solving and debugging complex, real-world issues.
- Workplace Etiquette and the process of giving/receiving professional feedback.
3. Operational Oversight & Stakeholder Reporting
- Curriculum Feedback: Provide continuous feedback to TrooperCruit on the effectiveness of the Integrated Workplace Learning Model and suggest adjustments to keep the Python curriculum aligned with rapidly evolving technological advancements.
- Reporting: Communicate project status, technical challenges, and student performance metrics to TrooperCruit and corporate stakeholders.
- Batch Supervision: For Full-Time Mentors, take ownership of the overall performance and professional development of assigned student batches, including managing their performance evaluations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience:3 to 6 years of hands-on, professional experience as a Python Developer, Software Engineer, or Data Engineer within a corporate software industry setting.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in object-oriented programming with Python and at least one major Python web framework (e.g., Django, Flask). Strong understanding of databases (SQL/NoSQL).
- Coaching Aptitude: Proven ability or strong desire to teach, mentor, and simplify complex technical concepts for early-career professionals or students.
- Industry Process Knowledge: Practical experience working in an Agile (Scrum/Kanban) development environment and familiarity with modern software development tools (Git, Jira).
- Soft Skills: High level of emotional intelligence, patience, strong presentation skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate diverse teams.
- Education: B.Tech/M.Tech/M.S. in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
