Role & Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Python and frameworks such as Django or Flask.
- Implement database schemas and queries for relational and NoSQL stores; optimise for performance and scalability.
- Build, test and deploy containerised services (Docker) and collaborate on CI/CD pipelines to ensure repeatable releases.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement robust monitoring and alerting.
- Write automated unit and integration tests and participate in code reviews to ensure high code quality.
- Collaborate with product, QA and DevOps teams to translate requirements into reliable, maintainable solutions.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- 5+ years of professional experience building backend systems in Python.
- Proven experience with Django or Flask for building RESTful APIs.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL) and familiarity with MongoDB or other NoSQL stores.
- Hands-on with Docker and basic container orchestration concepts; comfortable working with CI/CD workflows.
- Solid experience with Git-based version control and collaborative branching strategies.
- Experience writing automated tests (unit/integration) and debugging production issues.
Preferred
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) and familiarity with services like RDS, ECS/EKS or S3.
- Knowledge of background job systems (Celery/RQ) and message brokers (Redis/RabbitMQ).
- Familiarity with observability tooling (Prometheus/Grafana, ELK) and performance tuning.
