Role Summary

Senior Python Engineer / Architect – SQL Server Monitoring & AI Solutions

We are looking for a Senior Python Engineer/Architect to design and build a modern, AI-powered SQL Server monitoring platform as part of our transition from Redgate SQL Monitor to an in-house solution.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop a scalable Python-based SQL Server monitoring platform.
• Build monitoring for SQL Server performance metrics using DMVs (sessions, blocking, waits, I/O, storage, AG health, etc.).
• Implement alerting frameworks, monitoring runbooks, and operational workflows.
• Integrate with Geneos and support cloud-native, containerized deployments.
• Collaborate with DBA, Operations, and Engineering teams to deliver production-ready solutions.

Required Skills

• 7+ years of experience in Python development and software architecture.
• Strong expertise in SQL Server internals, T-SQL, DMVs, and performance monitoring.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, etc.).
• Hands-on experience with REST APIs, automated testing, Docker, CI/CD, and cloud platforms.

Preferred Skills

• Geneos/ITRS monitoring experience.
• Kubernetes, Azure SQL, AWS RDS, observability, and telemetry solutions.
• Exposure to legacy Perl and/or Sybase ASE.
