Job Description

We are seeking an Assistant Manager Category Management to support procurement and category strategy functions within the shipping domain at Mumbai . The role involves driving category planning, supplier sourcing, cost optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives, while collaborating with internal teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective procurement operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and executing annual procurement and category strategies based on historical data and market trends.
  • Provide insights and projections to support overall category planning and align with organizational procurement goals.
  • Source and evaluate potential suppliers, maintain a robust supplier database, and support the development of an approved vendor list.
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and performance improvements, and report progress to senior management.
  • Assist in budget planning, cost control, and identification of anomalies in procurement spending.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, helping build team capabilities and address competency gaps.

Looking For

  • 36 years of experience in procurement or category management, preferably within shipping or technical/marine purchasing
  • Experience in technical category buying within the shipping industry is essential
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret data and build cost models
  • Proven negotiation skills with a focus on cost optimization, supplier relationship and management skills
