Job Description

Role Summary

The Purchase Manager is responsible for end-to-end procurement of raw materials, consumables, tooling, machine spares, packaging and indirect items required to keep HPDC, CNC and VMC operations running without interruption. The role owns vendor development, cost negotiation, on-time delivery, inventory health and statutory compliance for all purchases.

Key Responsibilities

A. Raw Material & Direct Procurement

Plan and procure aluminium alloys (ADC12, LM6, AlSi10Mg, A380), zinc alloys, ingots, and scrap as per production schedule.

Track LME aluminium prices and domestic ingot rates daily; lock rates at the right time to protect margins.

Issue and manage Purchase Orders (PO) for steel, copper, fasteners, inserts, and bought-out components.

Maintain minimum 7–15 days of safety stock for fast-moving raw materials.

B. Tooling, Spares & Consumables

Procure die-casting dies, inserts, ejector pins, plunger tips, sleeves, die lubricants, release agents, and graphite.

Source CNC/VMC tooling — inserts, end mills, drills, taps, collets, holders, coolant, cutting oil.

Manage spares for HPDC machines (TOYO, Buhler, Frech, IDRA, L&T), CNC, VMC, melting furnaces, and trim presses.

C. Indirect & MRO Purchase

Packaging materials (cartons, wooden pallets, VCI, stretch film, separators).

Safety items (PPE, gloves, aprons, helmets), housekeeping, stationery, and office consumables.

Electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic spares; factory maintenance items.

D. Vendor Development & Management

Identify and develop a minimum of 2–3 alternate suppliers for every critical item.

Conduct vendor audits, capacity assessments, and quality rating reviews.

Negotiate annual rate contracts (ARC) for recurring items to lock pricing.

Onboard MSME / GST-compliant vendors; maintain updated vendor master.

E. Cost & Negotiation

Drive 3–5% year-on-year cost reduction through negotiation, alternate sourcing, and value engineering.

Conduct RFQ → comparative statement → negotiation → PO release cycle for every major buy.

Benchmark prices against IndiaMART, market indices, and competitor quotes.

F. Inventory & Stores Coordination

Coordinate with Stores for GRN, material inspection, and rejection handling.

Maintain optimum inventory — no stock-outs, no dead stock.

Monthly stock reconciliation with finance and physical verification.

G. Compliance & Documentation

Ensure GST, e-way bill, e-invoice compliance for all inward shipments.

Maintain PO, GRN, invoice, and payment trail in ERP / Tally / Excel.

TDS, MSME 45-day payment rule adherence.

H. Reporting

Daily purchase status report — pending POs, in-transit, shortages.

Weekly cost tracker — alloy prices, savings achieved, vendor performance.

Monthly MIS to management — spend analysis, vendor rating, inventory turnover.

Key Skills Required

Strong knowledge of die-casting raw materials, alloys (ADC12, LM6, AlSi10MG), and pricing.

Hands-on experience in HPDC / CNC / VMC tooling and spares procurement.

Vendor negotiation, comparative analysis, and cost optimisation.

ERP / Tally / Excel — POs, indents, GRN, MIS.

GST, e-way bill, MSME compliance knowledge.

Communication in English and Tamil; Hindi preferred for North India vendors.
