Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead – NPD Purchase to manage procurement activities related to New Product Development (NPD) and ensure seamless material availability for new projects. The role involves strategic sourcing, vendor development, cost optimization, demand planning, and coordination with cross-functional teams to support timely product development and production readiness. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in procurement, supply chain management, vendor negotiations, and inventory planning within the electronics/manufacturing industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead procurement activities for New Product Development (NPD) projects to ensure timely availability of materials and components.
- Develop and implement sourcing and supply chain strategies aligned with business and project objectives.
- Coordinate with engineering, production, and program teams to understand BOM requirements and procurement timelines.
- Forecast material demand and plan inventory to ensure uninterrupted supply while optimizing inventory costs.
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers for new components and technologies as per project requirements.
- Manage supplier relationships and negotiate pricing, contracts, lead times, and commercial terms to achieve cost optimization.
- Evaluate vendor performance based on quality, delivery, responsiveness, and compliance standards.
- Ensure timely procurement of materials for prototypes, pilot builds, and production phases.
- Work closely with logistics and warehouse teams to streamline transportation and material movement.
- Monitor stock levels, conduct material reviews, and implement inventory control measures to avoid shortages or excess inventory.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with production, sales, planning, quality, and distribution teams for smooth execution of projects.
- Identify supply chain risks for NPD programs and implement mitigation strategies to avoid project delays.
- Track procurement KPIs and drive continuous improvement in sourcing efficiency, supplier performance, and cost reduction.
- Lead and mentor team members to ensure operational effectiveness and knowledge development.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong expertise in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, and Vendor Development.
- Hands-on experience in NPD purchasing, strategic sourcing, and BOM-based procurement.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems and supply chain software.
- Expertise in demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and supplier negotiations.
- Good understanding of electronics components, manufacturing processes, and supply chain operations.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership skills with experience in mentoring and guiding teams.
Educational Qualification
- B.E. in Electronics / E&TC, Operations, or related field.
Experience Required
- 8–10 years of relevant experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, or NPD Purchase, preferably in the electronics/manufacturing industry.
