Job Description Position: Head – Purchase & Procurement

Experience: 10–12 years (Manufacturing background mandatory)

Role Overview The Head – Purchase & Procurement will be responsible for leading and managing the complete procurement function at BD Industries. This role focuses on strategic sourcing, vendor development, cost optimization, and ensuring uninterrupted supply of materials and services to support manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Procurement

Formulate and implement procurement strategies aligned with production and business objectives.

Drive cost reduction through effective sourcing, negotiation, and supplier optimization.

Ensure timely procurement of raw materials, consumables, spares, tooling, and capital equipment. Vendor Management

Identify, evaluate, develop, and manage suppliers to meet quality, cost, and delivery standards.

Negotiate pricing, contracts, credit terms, and long-term agreements.

Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and corrective action plans.

Operational Procurement

Oversee day-to-day purchasing operations to support smooth plant functioning.

Coordinate closely with Production, Planning, Quality, Stores, and Finance teams.

Ensure accurate PO processing, follow-ups, GRNs, and invoice reconciliation.

Inventory & Cost Control

Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages, excess stock, and obsolescence.

Implement inventory optimization and lead-time reduction initiatives.

Work closely with Finance to control working capital and improve cash flow.

Compliance & Process Excellence

Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, audit standards, and statutory requirements.

Develop and enforce SOPs and best practices across procurement processes.

Use ERP/SAP systems for tracking, reporting, and decision-making.

Team Leadership

Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team.

Define KPIs, monitor performance, and ensure accountability.

Key Skills & Competencies

8-10 years of experience in manufacturing procurement.

Strong negotiation, sourcing, and vendor management expertise.

Sound understanding of supply chain, inventory planning, and costing.

Hands-on experience with ERP / SAP / procurement tools.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Background

Experience in plastic / rotomoulding / automotive / industrial manufacturing.

Exposure to multi-plant procurement will be an advantage.
