About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and responsible Purchase Manager who can handle the complete procurement process for a manufacturing plant. The candidate will be responsible for purchasing raw materials, chemicals, engineering items, machinery parts, and other production-related materials while maintaining quality, cost control, and timely delivery.
The ideal candidate should have strong negotiation skills, vendor management experience, and knowledge of procurement processes in manufacturing or chemical industries.
Key Responsibilities
1. Procurement Planning & Material Management
- Plan and manage day-to-day purchasing activities for the plant
- Understand production requirements and arrange materials on time
- Ensure uninterrupted supply of raw materials and consumables
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate with stores department
- Reduce material shortages and avoid overstocking
2. Vendor Management & Development
- Search, identify, and develop new vendors and suppliers
- Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and contracts
- Compare multiple vendor quotations and select the best option
- Maintain proper vendor records and approved vendor lists
3. Purchase Operations
- Review purchase requisitions received from departments
- Generate RFQs (Request for Quotations)
- Analyze quotations and prepare comparative statements
- Release Purchase Orders (POs) after approval
- Track orders and ensure timely delivery of materials
- Handle follow-ups for pending orders and urgent requirements
4. Coordination with Departments
Coordinate regularly with:
- Production Team for material planning
- Maintenance Team for machinery spare requirements
- Quality Team for incoming material quality checks
- Stores Team for inventory management
Ensure smooth coordination between departments for uninterrupted operations.
5. Cost Control & Negotiation
- Work on cost-saving strategies and better procurement planning
- Negotiate effectively with suppliers to achieve competitive pricing
- Monitor market trends and raw material price fluctuations
- Maintain procurement within company budget
6. Team Handling & Reporting
- Lead and manage the purchase department team
- Assign daily tasks and monitor team performance
- Prepare purchase reports and MIS reports
- Ensure proper documentation and procurement compliance

Required Qualification
- Graduate or Postgraduate in Commerce, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field
Experience Required
- 6 to 10 Years of experience in Purchase / Procurement
- Experience from Chemical, Polymer, Plastic, Recycling, Manufacturing, or Industrial sectors preferred
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
- Good knowledge of procurement processes and inventory management
- Experience in plant purchase or project procurement preferred
- Knowledge of hazardous chemical procurement will be an advantage
- Good communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple vendors simultaneously
