The opportunity


We are seeking an experienced and result-oriented Purchase Engineer with 10 + years of hands-on experience in the transformer manufacturing industry. This role offers an opportunity to manage high-value procurement, and contribute directly to cost optimization, Inventory management and supply-chain excellence.

How you'll make an impact

  • The ideal candidate will play a critical role in vendor management, need to work in P 2 P (procure to pay) concept, localization strategies, and timely procurement of critical materials and components required for power transformers.

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for transformer raw materials and bought-out items (core steel, Insulation materials, fabrication components, copper items, Bought out items, etc.).

  • Worked in SQDIC concept with more focus required in inventory managementManage import procurement, including customs duties, documentation, and Incoterms where applicable.

  • Cross functional coordination: - Collaborate with Planning, Engineering, Quality, Production, Project, and Logistics teams to ensure material availability as per production and project timelines. Monitor consumption trends and forecast material requirements.

  • Drive cost-reduction initiatives through value engineering, alternate materials, and cost out project.

  • Compliance & documentations: - Ensure adherence to company policies, statutory requirements, and ethical procurement practices. Maintain accurate procurement documentation, records, and MIS reports. Support audits (internal, customer, and statutory) related to procurement activities.

  • Implement procurement best practices, digital tools, and process improvements. Track procurement KPIs such as cost savings, vendor performance, OTIF delivery, and quality metrics (COPQ).

  • You will be ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

    • Degree in Electrical/Mechanical engineering with 10+ years experience with Minimum 5-6 yrs experience in transformer ind.

    • Skilled required to handle commodities like CRGO/PBD, FG etc)/ Fabrication/copper of transformer industry.

    • Quick learner with interest in and ability to master new technologies.

    • Good communication skill and proficiency in English and Hindi is required.

    • Knowledge basic SAP /soft skills like MS office
