Job Purpose (Significance Of The Role & Objectives)
Develop, evaluate, and manage suppliers for plastic and metal automotive components to ensure quality, cost, and delivery (QCD) targets are achieved. Support new product development, localization, and supplier readiness while driving cost optimization initiatives and ensuring reliable and scalable supplier performance.
Key Responsibilities And Deliverables
Vendor Development & Management
- Identify, develop, and onboard suppliers for plastic and metal automotive components
- Develop alternate sources to mitigate supply risks
- Maintain supplier documentation including NDAs, drawings, and technical specifications
Supplier Coordination & Production Support
- Coordinate with suppliers for prototype, pilot, and mass production readiness
- Ensure supplier ramp-up aligns with project timelines
- Support new product development (NPD) and localization initiatives.
Supplier Evaluation & Performance Monitoring
- Conduct supplier audits and capability assessments
- Monitor supplier performance against Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) targets
- Resolve supplier-related issues through cross-functional coordination.
Costing & Value Engineering
- Support part-costing activities and commercial discussions
- Contribute to cost reduction and value engineering initiatives
- Analyze raw material, manufacturing process, and tooling costs
Desired Qualifications: Required Qualification, Knowledge, and Experience
- BE / BTech / Diploma in Mechanical, Automobile, or Production Engineering
- 45 years of experience in vendor development within the automotive industry
- Experience in plastic and metal component development
- Technical Knowledge- Injection molding, Sheet metal, Machining, Welding
- Exposure to APQP, PPAP, and FMEA (preferred)
- Experience in supplier ramp-up and production readiness
