About Our Team

Join a dynamic and impactful team within the Data Operations department. The Content & Data Sourcing (CDS) team plays a crucial role in shaping Elsevier's content landscape by developing and executing strategies for acquiring and licensing third-party content across a wide range of products.The Content & Data Sourcing team (CDS) ensures & determines the acquisition and licensing strategy of third-party content in a wide range of Elsevier products. We are looking for a proactive and experiencedPublishingRelations Manager with a passion for negotiating. In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining solid relationships with third-party content partners, managing negotiations, promoting the inclusion of third-party content in Elsevier products, and ensuring the rights and permissions are formalized contractually.

About The Role

As Publishing Relations Manager II, you will serve as a key liaison between Elsevier and its external content partners. Your primary focus will be on drivinggrowing(Long-tail)partnerships, content acquisition, and licensing negotiations that support our content expansion and digital ecosystem. You will be the gatekeeper ensuring best practices for the use and display of third-party content, safeguarding Elsevier's reputation and content partners intellectual property. Your role is pivotal in managing publisher relationships, driving account growth, and aligning partnership activities with organizational objectives.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, acting as a subject matter expert on publisher relationship development and engagement. The ideal candidate is diplomatic, culturally sensitive, and possesses strong analytical and business acumen, with a proven track record in negotiations and relationship management. Based in Chennai, you will report to the Team Leader - Content & Data Sourcing.

Responsibilities:

Account &Relationship management

  • Oversee contract renewals, compliance, and operational workflows to ensure seamless account management.
  • Facilitate the onboarding of new publishers and support the integration of growth initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned Content Partner accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with publishers.
  • Develop theengagement strategyregarding the outreach to external content partners.
  • Facilitates the continuous contentcompleteness andexpansionsupporting the growth ofElsevier products.
  • Serveas a gatekeeper effectively ensuring Elsevier's best practices for the use and display of third-party content,retentioncompliance andsafeguarding Elsevier's reputation as well as content partners intellectual property.
  • Remain vigilant in identifying and flagging any unauthorized content to protect our platforms.
  • Manage competing priorities and dependencies across business units and third-party stakeholders.
  • Deliver a high-quality customer experience, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints throughout the customer lifecycle.

  • Track account performance metrics, ensuring publishers meet agreed targets.
  • Ability to advocate for publishers needs while aligning with organizational strategies.
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to both internal stakeholders and external partners.

Supporting content growth&cost optimization

  • Facilitate discussionswiththird parties regarding potentialtransition to desired content format.
  • Liaise with existing third-party content providers about internal data improvement requests (to approved businessstandards) to ensure optimal quality.
  • Initiate new content delivery setups and manage transitions across platforms and formats to maintain content currency and completeness.
  • Develop and execute content acquisition plans for licensing and onboarding projects.
  • Manage the lifecycle of licensing process including renewal activities for selected content partners.

Technical and Functional Competencies

  • Ability to build, strengthen, and maintain positive relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Passionate about delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Experience working with CRM applications such as Salesforce is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like JIRA is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, data visualization platforms, and licensing/content management systems.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experiences (and any other requirements)

  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a commercial or relationship management role.preferably within the publishing, content licensing, or digital content ecosystems.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Publishing, or a related field.
  • Results-oriented with a growth mindset and a passion for negotiating and closing deals.
  • Deep understanding of publishing industry trends, digital content ecosystems, and research landscapes.
  • Independent,analytical, and results-driven with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
