Role Overview
As a PR Associate at The Brand Bee, you will sit within our PR and communications practice and drive public relations programs for our clients across sectors - from D2C, beauty, and lifestyle brands to real estate, F&B, B2B, and founders building category-defining companies. You will own the day-to-day media relations and execution on your client accounts, turning each client's story into earned coverage, founder visibility, thought leadership, and reputation. The role is primarily client-facing; you will also help build The Brand Bee's own brand presence as one of the accounts the practice serves.
This is a hands-on execution role for someone who can run media relations independently, manage multiple brands at once, and help shape repeatable PR processes as the practice grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute PR and communications programs for client accounts - media relations, brand storytelling, founder profiling, and thought leadership - aligned to each client's goals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, media houses, trade publications, and influencers across the sectors our clients operate in.
- Identify and secure media coverage, interviews, features, bylines, podcasts, and speaking opportunities for clients (and for The Brand Bee).
- Draft press releases, media pitches, opinion pieces, leadership bylines, award nominations, press kits, and spokesperson briefing notes and Q&As.
- Drive founder and leadership profiling for clients through strategic media placements and thought leadership initiatives.
- Research, prepare, and manage award submissions, industry recognitions, and networking opportunities for clients.
- Build and maintain curated, sector-specific media lists and a current media database.
- Collaborate with internal strategy, creative, content, social, and account teams to develop newsworthy stories and integrated campaigns for clients.
- Monitor coverage, industry trends, and competitor activity to spot timely angles and reactive opportunities (newsjacking) for clients.
- Support reputation-building and ORM initiatives, and assist with client crisis communication when required.
- Track, analyze, and report PR performance - coverage, reach, share of voice, and message pull-through - in clean, client-ready monthly reports.
- Manage timelines, approvals, and client communication for PR deliverables, holding quality and deadlines across accounts.
Requirements
- 4–6 years of experience in Public Relations, Corporate Communications, Media Relations, or agency PR - ideally handling external clients.
- Proven track record of securing media coverage and managing communications across multiple brands or accounts.
- Strong, active network across business, marketing, advertising, startup, lifestyle, and trade media (real estate, beauty, F&B, or B2B desks a plus).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the range to adapt tone and narrative across very different client brands.
- Experience in founder branding, thought leadership, byline writing, and proactive media outreach.
- Comfortable juggling multiple accounts and deadlines, with strong organization and follow-through.
- Strong stakeholder and client-relationship management skills.
- Agency experience strongly preferred.
