Role Description
We are seeking a Public Health Veterinarian for Mission Rabies fieldwork with Humane Animal Society in Coimbatore. This is a full-time, on-site role. The veterinarian will engage in community education about rabies awareness and prevention, facilitate fieldwork for effective rabies control, and contribute to animal healthcare initiatives. The role includes traveling within local areas, utilizing a two-wheeler for accessibility, and working closely with communities to implement programs aimed at improving animal and public health. Flexibility, adaptability, and a passion for animal welfare are key for this role.
Qualifications
- Veterinary skills, including animal healthcare, diagnosis, and treatment
- Experience in public health education, community engagement, and promoting awareness campaigns
- Proficiency in fieldwork and ability to conduct humane animal handling and vaccination drives
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with local communities and teams
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively by two-wheeler in local areas
- A degree in Veterinary Science (BVSc or equivalent)
- Prior experience in public health or rabies control is an advantage
- Sensitivity to cultural contexts and commitment to animal welfare
- Basic language skills in Tamil are highly desirable
