Project: VMware-to-OpenShift Virtualization migration Project
Role Summary:
We seek an experienced Project Manager to lead a high-stakes infrastructure transformation program. You will orchestrate the end-to-end migration from legacy VMware to Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery while managing stakeholder expectations, risks, and regulatory compliance in a complex FSI environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Execution: Define migration roadmap, milestones, and resource plans. Coordinate with technical leads (Platform, Build, Automation, QE) to track progress against KPIs (migration velocity, downtime windows, test pass rates).
- Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Serve as primary liaison between Red Hat delivery teams, client leadership, and third-party vendors. Present regular status updates to steering committees and negotiate scope/timeline changes.
- Risk & Governance: Proactively identify, mitigate, and report risks (data integrity, performance, compliance). Establish governance frameworks, change control processes, and contingency plans (e.g., rollback strategies).
- Team Leadership: Lead a cross-functional team of 15–25 engineers and architects. Foster collaboration, clarity of roles, and effective communication between technical and business stakeholders.
- Reporting: Produce weekly/monthly dashboards covering budget, timeline, milestones, and issues for executive sponsors.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- 12+ years total experience, with 5+ years in project management (infrastructure modernization/cloud migration preferred).
- Proven track record managing large-scale migration projects in complex, matrixed organizations.
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills – experience engaging C-suite, IT directors, and operational teams.
- Excellent verbal/written communication – Able to translate complex technical details into clear, business-friendly language.
- Familiarity with Agile/Waterfall hybrid methodologies and tools (Jira, MS Project, ServiceNow).
- Risk management expertise – identifying and mitigating technical, operational, and compliance risks.
- Experience in Financial Services (banking, insurance) is highly desirable.
Desirable Skills:
- Foundational knowledge of OpenShift, Kubernetes, or VMware vSphere.
- Certifications: PMP, PRINCE2, Agile – PSM / CSM,
- Familiarity with RBI/PCI-DSS compliance and ITIL frameworks.
Location & Contract:
- Hybrid: 1 week/month in Pune office (local candidates preferred; non-local welcome if willing to commute).
- Initial 1-year contract with strong extension potential based on performance.
