Role Mandate
DATOMS runs complex, high-volume, multi-site deployments involving hardware, software, production schedules, field engineers, system integrators, and customers with live operations. At this scale, execution failures are rarely caused by strategy. They are caused by missed dependencies, delayed escalations, and lack of ownership.
This role exists to own execution discipline for customer deployments. The Project Manager is accountable for turning Sales Orders and high-level plans into day-by-day execution reality, ensuring timelines are met, risks are surfaced early, deployment costs are planned and tracked, and commitments are delivered.
This is not a coordination-only or reporting role. This is a delivery role with high accountability and visibility.
Scope of Responsibility1. Project Intake & Planning
- Take structured handoff of Sales Orders and deployment scope from Operations leadership.
- Break down commercial and operational commitments into detailed project plans with milestones, owners, dependencies, timelines, and estimated deployment costs.
- Validate feasibility across production readiness, inventory availability, site readiness, partner capacity, and field engineering bandwidth.
- Identify execution risks upfront and document mitigation plans before deployments begin.
- Execution Ownership & Control
- Own day-to-day execution of multiple concurrent deployment projects.
- Track progress rigorously and call out slippage immediately.
- Drive corrective actions by coordinating with Managers Ops, partners, production, and internal teams.
- Escalate risks early with clear context, impact assessment, and recommended actions.
- Financial Responsibility Section
- Financial Planning & Deployment Cost Tracking
- Develop deployment cost estimates during project planning.
- Track actual deployment costs against estimates and highlight deviations.
- Flag margin impact, cost overruns, or operational inefficiencies early to Operations leadership.
- Provide insights to improve deployment cost assumptions for future planning.
- Cross-Functional & Partner Coordination
- Act as the single execution point of contact across Field Operations, Partners/System Integrators, Production, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Customer Support.
- Enforce clarity on roles, responsibilities, and handoffs at every stage of deployment.
- Coordinate sequencing between hardware readiness, site availability, partner schedules, and commissioning activities.
- Field, Partner & Site-Level Execution
- Work closely with Field Ops Managers and partner teams executing on-ground deployments.
- Track site-level readiness, execution quality, and adherence to deployment playbooks.
- Surface partner performance, capacity, or quality issues with data-backed evidence.
- Customer Communication & Issue Resolution
- Manage deployment-related communication with customers in alignment with Ops leadership.
- Provide proactive, factual updates on timelines, risks, and changes.
- Coordinate with Customer Support to ensure tickets, incidents, or defects do not block go-live milestones.
- Reporting, Discipline & Continuous Improvement
- Define and standardize project governance tools, trackers, and reporting formats used for deployment execution.
- Maintain accurate project trackers, execution dashboards, and documentation.
- Provide regular status updates highlighting risks, blockers, and mitigation actions.
- Capture deployment learnings and feed improvements into SOPs, playbooks, and planning assumptions.
What Success Looks Like
- Deployments consistently meet committed timelines and scope.
- Risks are identified and escalated early, not discovered during customer escalations.
- Field teams, partners, and production execute against clear, realistic plans.
- Customers experience predictable onboarding with minimal surprises.
- Operations leadership has high confidence in deployment status and forecasts.
Ideal Background
- 5–7+ years of experience in Project Management, Program Management, or Delivery roles.
- Experience managing execution in IoT, hardware-led SaaS, telecom, infrastructure, industrial tech, or field-intensive environments.
- Proven track record of handling multiple parallel projects with external dependencies.
- Experience working closely with field teams, partners, and production or supply chain functions.
- Comfortable operating in environments where plans evolve and constraints are real.
Must-Have Skills
- Strong execution mindset with high attention to detail.
- Ability to manage complexity, ambiguity, and competing priorities.
- Clear, concise communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Structured problem-solving and escalation discipline.
- Working knowledge of project tracking tools and operational dashboards.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience working with system integrators or large partner ecosystems.
- Prior exposure to nationwide or multi-city deployments.
- PMP / Prince2 / Agile certifications (not mandatory).
- Experience in deployment cost estimation, budgeting, or operational cost tracking.
Cultural Fit
- High ownership with low tolerance for ambiguity drift.
- Comfortable being direct, factual, and firm when execution slips.
- Bias for action over perfection.
- Thrives in execution-heavy, high-growth environments.
