Position Summary
The Data Governance Manager - Data Risk & Compliance Manager is responsible for maintaining and advancing priority Data Risk & Compliance capabilities during a temporary leave period. The role translates governance, privacy, security, records management, risk, and compliance requirements into scalable processes, platform requirements, and measurable governance outcomes for EDAA data assets and products.
This individual will serve as the day-to-day capability lead across Critical Data Assets, data classification, risk and compliance assessment, monitoring, reporting, and related GCP/Collibra enablement. The role partners closely with Data Stewards, Technical Data Management, Data Security, Data Privacy, Records and Information Management, Engineering, Data Owners, and business teams to maintain delivery momentum and resolve cross-functional dependencies.
As a dedicated contingent backfill, this role requires an experienced governance professional who can ramp up quickly, independently manage an active roadmap and backlog, and provide clear coordination, documentation, and stakeholder communication with limited hand-holding.
Primary Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities
1. Data Risk & Compliance Capability Leadership
- Maintain the Data Risk & Compliance capability roadmap, backlog, priorities, dependencies, and delivery status in partnership with EDAA and enabling teams.
- Translate business, policy, regulatory, risk, and control needs into clear governance requirements, solution requirements, acceptance criteria, and implementation plans
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Data Risk & Compliance capability questions, demonstrations, working sessions, and stakeholder updates
- Identify recurring risks, control gaps, adoption barriers, and capability enhancement opportunities and elevate them through the appropriate governance channels
2. Critical Data Assets, Classification & Governance Requirements
- Coordinate the Critical Data Asset process and related workflow enhancements, including intake, validation, issue triage, stakeholder alignment, and backlog management
- Advance data classification requirements and use cases across priority EDAA data assets, working with Data Security, Privacy, Data Stewards, application teams, and platform partners
- Support definition and application of governance requirements for classification, privacy, retention, permissible use, access, ownership, business context, and regulatory scope
- Maintain alignment between Critical Data Asset, enterprise data asset, ServiceNow/CMDB, and Collibra processes as future-state requirements evolve
3. Risk, Compliance Assessment & Reporting
- Support execution and refinement of the Data Risk & Compliance assessment approach for existing and new data assets and products
- Coordinate collection of asset context, control evidence, observations, identified gaps, remediation actions, accountable owners, and target dates
- Enable leadership and governance reporting through scorecards, dashboards, risk flags, recurring monitoring, trend analysis, and clear escalation of material issues
- Partner with enterprise risk and control functions to ensure exceptions, risk acceptance, and policy deviations follow established approval and escalation processes
4. Platform Enablement & Agile Delivery
- Partner with Technical Data Management and platform teams to plan, prioritize, solution, test, and deliver Data Risk & Compliance capabilities in GCP/Collibra and related governance platforms
- Coordinate implementation readiness, user acceptance testing, business validation, defect and enhancement triage, release readiness, and post-release adoption
- Maintain the central requirements and use-case tracker, ensuring business priority, target timing, dependencies, approval status, and implementation notes remain current
- Participate in sprint planning, status reviews, working sessions, and governance forums to communicate progress, decisions, blockers, and next steps
5. Stakeholder Coordination, Documentation & Knowledge Continuity
- Build effective working relationships across EDAA, Data Security, Privacy, Records and Information Management, Technical Data Management, Enterprise Risk, Engineering, and business stakeholders
- Prepare concise executive-ready updates, decision materials, meeting notes, process documentation, and requirements artifacts
- Maintain organized, current capability documentation in the approved SharePoint structure, including clear separation of active, draft, final, and archived materials
- Ensure continuity of key workstreams, decisions, open questions, and stakeholder commitments throughout the leave coverage period and support an orderly transition at the end of the assignment
Required Skills & Experience
Technical & Governance Qualifications:

Professional & Operational Competencies:

- Excellent analytical, requirements-definition, problem-solving, facilitation, and written communication skills
- Ability to independently manage multiple active workstreams, surface risks early, and drive decisions and follow-through in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to quickly learn existing frameworks, processes, artifacts, and stakeholder relationships while preserving continuity and delivery momentum
