Job Description Summary

The Project Manager Mechanical Engineering will be responsible for planning, executing, and delivering mechanical engineering scope for chemical manufacturing plant projects, including greenfield and brownfield expansions. The role involves managing design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and handover of mechanical systems while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, cost, and schedule requirements.

About the Role:

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage mechanical engineering activities for chemical plant projects (process units, utilities, tank farms, pipelines, etc.).
  • Develop project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and resource plans for mechanical scope.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure timely completion of milestones and overall project delivery.
  • Review and approve mechanical design deliverables (P&IDs, layouts, GA drawings, datasheets, specifications).
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (ASME, API, ASTM, IS, NFPA, etc.).
  • Coordinate with process, civil, electrical, instrumentation, and HSE teams.
  • Provide technical guidance during fabrication, erection, and commissioning
  • Support preparation of RFQs, technical bid evaluations, and vendor selection.
  • Review vendor drawings, documents, and manufacturing plans.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, fabricators, and contractors for timely delivery
  • Supervise mechanical installation activities including piping, equipment erection, rotating machinery, tanks, and utilities.
  • Ensure construction quality, safety compliance, and adherence to approved drawings.
  • Participate in pre-commissioning, commissioning, and performance testing.
  • Manage punch lists and final handover documentation
  • Ensure strict adherence to HSE policies, permit-to-work systems, and statutory requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments (HAZOP, HAZID, JSA) related to mechanical systems.
  • Promote a strong safety culture at site
  • Lead mechanical engineers, supervisors, and contractors.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, consultants, licensors, and clients.
  • Prepare regular progress reports and presentations for management

About You

  • B.E/ Diploma Civil with 15+ years of experience particularly in building projects.
  • Should have completed at least 1-2 Projects of Chemical manufacturing/ /chemical/ industrial end to end during the tenure
  • Technical awareness of civil, electro-mechanical, and architectural works
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
