Job Description

Job Title: Project Lead IT Infrastructure

Department: IT
Location: Bangalore

Role Overview

The Project Lead will be responsible for end-to-end planning, coordination, and execution of IT infrastructure setup projects for new GCC sites. This includes client requirement gathering, infrastructure design coordination, procurement management, vendor engagement, installation oversight, and final handover. The role requires strong project management, vendor coordination, and documentation skills to ensure smooth delivery of IT infrastructure in line with organizational standards, timelines, and budgets.

Key Responsibilities

Client Requirement & Design Coordination

oConduct detailed discussions with clients to understand their current IT infrastructure setup and requirements.

oCoordinate preparation of HLD and LLD with the Infrastructure Architect.

oObtain necessary floor plans and related design inputs from Real Estate or Facilities teams.

oOversee commissioning and implementation activities in line with project plans.

oValidate vendor invoices and process payments in coordination with finance teams.

Procurement Planning & Vendor Management

oDevelop BoM, BoQ, and RFPs.

oShortlist vendors through qualification and evaluation processes.

oManage the end-to-end procurement process in coordination with internal procurement teams.

oEnsure compliance with global standards, documentation requirements, and approvals.

Project Preparation & Documentation

oMaintain all supporting documents (exemptions, approvals, contracts) for vendor engagement.

oPrepare and manage all delivery, installation, and handover documentation.

Implementation Oversight

oEnsure site readiness for IT infrastructure installation, including last-mile connectivity and server/hub room preparation.

oLiaise with vendors, shipping agents, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery and setup.

Change & Risk Management

oEstablish risk registers, impact assessments, and mitigation plans for IT setup projects.

oEnsure smooth change management with minimal disruption to business operations.

Budgeting & Cost Control

oTrack project budgets against forecasts and ensure cost optimization without compromising

oquality.

oPrepare periodic financial reports for stakeholders.

Agile/Hybrid Project Delivery

oIntroduce agile methodologies for faster rollout of IT components while maintaining waterfall

omilestones for critical infra dependencies.

oConduct sprint reviews and stakeholder updates.

Stakeholder Reporting

oProvide weekly/monthly dashboards on project progress, risks, and dependencies for leadership visibility.

Data Center & Cloud Integration

oOversee setup of server rooms, racks, and integration with hybrid cloud or private cloud services.

Collaboration & Communication Systems

oDeploy unified communications platforms (VoIP, video conferencing, Microsoft Teams/Zoom integrations).

oEnsure QoS (Quality of Service) on networks for voice and video.

Handover & Closure

oConduct walk-throughs with GCC IT leads, ensuring all installed infrastructure is documented and handed over.

oProvide all relevant OEM manuals, contracts, and vendor details.

Obtain final project sign-off from stakeholders.

Requirements

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple IT setup projects simultaneously within defined timelines and budgets.
  • Technical Understanding: Knowledge of IT infrastructure components including networking, servers, firewalls, switches, end-user devices, and telecommunication systems.
  • Vendor & Procurement Management: Strong experience in procurement processes, vendor evaluation, and contract management.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Proficiency in preparing project documentation, ensuring compliance with standards and audit requirements.
  • Communication & Coordination: Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with internal teams, vendors, and clients.

Qualifications & Experience: Education & Certifications (Recommended)

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, or a related discipline (mandatory) - preferred for candidates aspiring to lead multiple GCC IT projects.

Project Management Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional) added advantage

IT Service Management: ITIL v4 Foundation / Intermediate (preferred for governance and process alignment)
