Key Responsibilities And Outcomes
Project Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading engineering activities across projects, ensuring technical quality, resource allocation, and timely delivery. Oversees preparation of deliverables, attends meetings and site visits, and drives collaboration across departments. Maintains compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards while keeping projects on budget and schedule.
- Manage and lead a team of multi-discipline engineering (internal and external) resources to coordinate production of Engineering deliverables in accordance with the Project Plan
- Formulate resolutions to technically challenging and/or high-profile issues with support from discipline Engineering and effective communication with clients, subcontractors and senior management
- Monitor the Engineering, progress and address shortfalls, developing recovery plans where required and ensuring plans are implemented. Provides feedback to Project Managers and Engineering discipline supervisors as and when required of progress
- Chair Project Review Meetings (PRM) and ensure that associated reports are compiled and distributed accordingly
- Responsible for planning/scheduling all Engineering activities and resource planning. Quantifies the total number of Engineering deliverables, resource allocation and format of delivery and other requirements for execution of the work. Provides necessary regular Project controls/reporting input
- Oversight of approval and release of all Engineering deliverables ensuring appropriate levels of checking, approval and quality across all disciplines
- Ensure compatibility and conformance with client specifications and recommends cost effective improvements to equipment selection/specifications within the scope of client specifications and requirements
- Serve as the key link between CCSL and engineering sub-contractors, ensuring clear communication and effective collaboration. Coordinate and manage sub-contractor teams, oversee progress on-site when required, and drive multidisciplinary integration
- Oversee post-PDP and BEP, which includes resolving technical clarifications, managing EPC interfaces. Serve as the single point of contact for all site-related engineering queries, ensuring effective coordination across disciplines and timely issue resolution
- Provide critical support for sales and proposals by preparing technical and commercial documentation, addressing client and internal technical queries, and coordinating with engineering and sales teams
Requirements
To be successful in this role you should have a combination of the below knowledge, skills, and experience:
- Engineering Degree level qualification, ideally in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
- 10+ years of overall experience in EPC or Engineering Consultancy. Minimum 35 years of experience in a similar leadership/managerial position
- Excellent understanding of the multidisciplinary Engineering involved in process plant (e.g gas processing) design, fabrication, and operations
- Experienced in the integration of occupational and process safety management into design, fabrication, and operations
- Experience in an Engineering supervisory/management role, managing both teams of Engineers and external contractors
- Comfortable leading and managing an experienced team of discipline Engineers
- Experienced working with budgets, including demonstrable involvement in budget control
- Ability to train team members in new skills and competencies
- Strong problem-solving skills, decision making skills, whilst being proactive in achieving positive results
- Experience of working in plant operations or interfacing with operations personnel through engineering projects
