About the Role
Leading Door, Frame & Hardware supplier based in San Francisco servingcommercial construction projects across California is seeking an experienced project engineer to support project management team with coordination,documentation, budgeting, and communication across multi-family residential, commercial,and institutional projects.
This role requires strong organizational skills, technical DFH knowledge, and the ability to
work during core hours overlapping California Pacific Standard Time (until 2:00 PM PST /
3:30 AM IST).
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Support
Assist Project Manager with day-to-day project coordination and administrative tasks
Track project schedules, milestones, and deliverables to ensure on-time completion
Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, contractors, architects, and internal teams
Monitor project progress and proactively identify potential issues before they escalate
Support multiple concurrent projects across various stages of development
Plans, Specifications & Technical Coordination
Review and interpret architectural plans, door schedules, hardware schedules, andDivision 8 specifications
Identify conflicts, omissions, and constructability issues early, before they result inRFIs, rework, or delays
Assist in resolving technical questions and coordination issues with architects and
contractors
Submittals & Documentation
Support submittal preparation, tracking, and management
Prepare and manage RFIs (Requests for Information)
Handle change order documentation and tracking
Coordinate directly with architects, engineers, owners, and internal teams to clarifydesign intent and resolve conflicts
Quality Control & Problem Solving
Exceptionally organized with superior attention to detail
Recognized for spotting issues early and correcting courses before problemsescalate
Exercise sound judgment under pressure and lead with consistency
Support mentoring of junior team members when applicable
Qualifications
Required Experience
3-5+ years of experience in construction project coordination, preferably in DFH orrelated trades
Strong understanding of construction processes, project lifecycles, and Division 8scope
Technical Knowledge
Working knowledge of architectural hardware and Division 8 systems
Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, door schedules, and hardwareschedules
Familiarity with building codes and fire door inspection requirements (NFPA 80, ADA,etc.)
Understanding of submittal processes and contract document management
Skills & Competencies
Highly organized with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Proactive problem-solver who identifies and resolves issues before they becomecritical
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Experience with construction management platforms (Procore, or similar) preferred
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
