  • Coordinate and manage mechanical design activities throughout the project lifecycle, from conceptual design to final implementation and commissioning.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring milestones are met and any delays are promptly addressed.
  • Ensure effective communication with all project stakeholders, including the design team, project managers, clients, and contractors.
  • Monitor and control project progress, providing regular updates and reports to management on the status of design, technical issues, and project delivery timelines.
  1. Mechanical Design Engineering:
  • Lead the design of mechanical systems, equipment, and components for various projects, including HVAC, piping, structural elements, and mechanical equipment.
  • Oversee the preparation of design documentation such as drawings, technical specifications, calculations, and reports, ensuring they meet client and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that mechanical designs are energy-efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with project goals.
  • Perform design analysis and simulations using engineering tools and software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CAESAR II, ANSYS).
  1. Quality Control & Compliance:
  • Ensure that all mechanical designs meet the relevant engineering codes, standards, and industry regulations (e.g., ASME, ISO, API).
  • Review and approve design documents and ensure compliance with client specifications and industry best practices.
  • Conduct design reviews and risk assessments, including HAZOP and FMEA, to identify potential issues and ensure that mechanical systems are safe, reliable, and efficient.
  1. Procurement & Cost Management:
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to define technical specifications for materials, equipment, and components.
  • Evaluate supplier quotes, participate in vendor selection, and ensure that mechanical components are procured on time and within budget.
  • Review and manage project budgets, ensuring that mechanical design costs are controlled and that the project remains within financial constraints.
  • Identify opportunities for cost-saving through design optimization and efficient use of materials.
  1. Team Leadership & Mentorship:
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive environment within the design team, ensuring that all members have the tools and resources needed to succeed.
  • Ensure that team members are properly trained on new technologies, tools, and processes.
  1. Client & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Work closely with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide technical solutions.
  • Address client feedback and design modifications, ensuring that all changes are properly integrated into the project.
  • Provide technical support during project meetings, site visits, and inspections.
  1. Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Compliance:
  • Ensure all mechanical designs comply with safety, environmental, and sustainability standards.
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies and ensure that safety standards are adhered to during the design and construction phases.
  • Participate in safety audits and ensure that mechanical systems are designed to minimize environmental impact.
  1. Continuous Improvement & Innovation:
  • Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement in mechanical design practices.
  • Implement lessons learned from previous projects to continuously improve design processes and project delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with at least 2 years in a project engineering or management role.
  • Industry Expertise: Experience in industries such as oil & gas, power, construction, manufacturing, or heavy engineering.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Mechanical Design Expertise: Strong understanding of mechanical systems, design principles, and related engineering technologies.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple tasks and teams, ensuring timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Design Software Proficiency: Proficient in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks), and engineering design and analysis software (e.g., CAESAR II, ANSYS).
  • Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex mechanical issues, provide solutions, and troubleshoot problems effectively.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
