Coordinate and manage mechanical design activities throughout the project lifecycle, from conceptual design to final implementation and commissioning.
Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring milestones are met and any delays are promptly addressed.
Ensure effective communication with all project stakeholders, including the design team, project managers, clients, and contractors.
Monitor and control project progress, providing regular updates and reports to management on the status of design, technical issues, and project delivery timelines.
Mechanical Design Engineering:
Lead the design of mechanical systems, equipment, and components for various projects, including HVAC, piping, structural elements, and mechanical equipment.
Oversee the preparation of design documentation such as drawings, technical specifications, calculations, and reports, ensuring they meet client and regulatory requirements.
Ensure that mechanical designs are energy-efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with project goals.
Perform design analysis and simulations using engineering tools and software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CAESAR II, ANSYS).
Quality Control & Compliance:
Ensure that all mechanical designs meet the relevant engineering codes, standards, and industry regulations (e.g., ASME, ISO, API).
Review and approve design documents and ensure compliance with client specifications and industry best practices.
Conduct design reviews and risk assessments, including HAZOP and FMEA, to identify potential issues and ensure that mechanical systems are safe, reliable, and efficient.
Procurement & Cost Management:
Collaborate with procurement teams to define technical specifications for materials, equipment, and components.
Evaluate supplier quotes, participate in vendor selection, and ensure that mechanical components are procured on time and within budget.
Review and manage project budgets, ensuring that mechanical design costs are controlled and that the project remains within financial constraints.
Identify opportunities for cost-saving through design optimization and efficient use of materials.
Team Leadership & Mentorship:
Lead and mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.
Foster a collaborative and productive environment within the design team, ensuring that all members have the tools and resources needed to succeed.
Ensure that team members are properly trained on new technologies, tools, and processes.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement:
Work closely with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide technical solutions.
Address client feedback and design modifications, ensuring that all changes are properly integrated into the project.
Provide technical support during project meetings, site visits, and inspections.
Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Compliance:
Ensure all mechanical designs comply with safety, environmental, and sustainability standards.
Implement risk mitigation strategies and ensure that safety standards are adhered to during the design and construction phases.
Participate in safety audits and ensure that mechanical systems are designed to minimize environmental impact.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation:
Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering.
Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement in mechanical design practices.
Implement lessons learned from previous projects to continuously improve design processes and project delivery.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with at least 2 years in a project engineering or management role.
Industry Expertise: Experience in industries such as oil & gas, power, construction, manufacturing, or heavy engineering.
