Key Responsibilities:
Electrical Design and Planning:
- Lead the electrical design aspects of projects, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, cabling, and control systems.
- Ensure designs meet project specifications, including electrical codes, safety regulations, and industry standards (e.g., NEC, IEC).
- Conduct electrical load calculations, power studies, and select appropriate equipment and materials for project needs.
- Develop and review design documents, including drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Coordinate electrical design with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, civil, structural) to ensure project integration.
Project Management and Execution:
- Manage the electrical engineering portion of projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Work closely with project managers to define the scope, schedule, and resource allocation for electrical components of the project.
- Monitor and track project progress, addressing any design or execution issues that arise during implementation.
- Review vendor proposals, conduct technical evaluations, and oversee procurement of electrical equipment and materials.
- Support the procurement and construction teams to ensure that electrical systems are installed according to design specifications.
Coordination and Communication:
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.
- Attend and actively participate in project meetings, providing updates on electrical design status and addressing any technical challenges.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve design and construction issues quickly and efficiently.
- Provide technical support and advice to the construction team during the implementation phase of the project.
Quality Control and Compliance:
- Ensure all electrical designs comply with local, national, and international electrical codes and safety standards.
- Conduct design reviews and audits to ensure that designs meet client expectations, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
- Implement and manage quality control processes for electrical design, ensuring that all work is reviewed and validated before submission.
- Perform site inspections and provide support during installation, testing, and commissioning phases to ensure electrical systems are built as designed.
Risk Management and Problem Solving:
- Identify potential risks in the electrical design process and proactively address them to avoid delays or cost overruns.
- Provide solutions to technical problems that arise during the design or implementation phases.
- Assess and mitigate electrical system risks, including electrical safety, power reliability, and operational efficiency.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of electrical design documents, calculations, and approval processes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare regular progress reports for senior management and clients, highlighting key milestones, issues, and resolutions.
- Ensure proper documentation of change orders, design modifications, and other project documentation as required.
Sustainability and Innovation:
- Integrate energy-efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly design solutions where possible, following best practices in electrical engineering.
- Stay updated on new technologies and trends in electrical design to propose innovative solutions that improve system performance or reduce costs.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 5-7 years of experience in electrical engineering design, with a focus on large-scale industrial, commercial, or infrastructure projects.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of electrical design principles, including power distribution, circuit design, lighting systems, and control systems.
- Familiarity with electrical codes and regulations (e.g., NEC, IEC, local electrical standards).
- Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, or similar tools.
- Strong analytical skills to conduct load calculations, power analysis, and fault analysis.
